Boat Final Gets Heavy At Wasaga Beach
Wasaga Beach, CAN. – Another amazing display of wakeskating went down today on the
Nottawasaga River in Wasaga Beach, Canada during the Rockstar Wake Jam for the Wake Final.
Wasaga Beach was offering great lifestyle options for its guests throughout the weekend, including high-energy karaoke by Dano the Mano and company or raging nightclub parties at the host resort, the Dyconia Inn. In turn, the worlds best wakeskaters were feeling the vibe and in great spirits for the first-time event.

At the river today, the crowd of party people were hooting and hollering as the riding
was at an all-time high, under bright sun with calm conditions behind the Air Nautique 210. Several wake-to-wake hammers were landed including:
Frontside big spin – Danny Hampson
Switch late shove – Danny Hampson
Switch frontside big spin – Stu Shinn / Reed Hansen
Heelside late shove – Stu Shinn
Toeside wrapped nosegrab backside 180 – Nick Taylor (first ever in competition)
Toeside late shove – Brian Grubb
The final four consisted of Hansen against Taylor and Shinn against Grubb, with Grubb and Taylor advancing to the head-to-head final. Taylor dropped an incredible two passes, highlighted with his now-signature wrapped toeside nosegrab backside 180. Grubb knew the heat was on. But he also knew he was ready for the challenge. “I had my best run of the day in the final,” Grubb said. “And I needed it to have the chance to beat Nick’s run.” Grubb’s high-difficuty toeside frontside late shove definitely helped his score, which was barely enough, but ample to beat Taylor’s efforts.
I reckon this can also be considered classic...
The buzz is already on for the fourth and final event, Rockstar’s Byerly Toe Jam, scheduled for September 18-20 at The Projects in Bithlo, Florida.
