2007 WWA Wakeskating Nationals Finals: A Low Resolution Memoir Continued

Date: 07-13-2007
Author: Wakeskating.com Staff

Reed Hansen was first off the dock for the Sunday afternoon finals. It was business as usual, as Reed donned his own wake flair in the form of a Fox racing doo rag. Heck yeah he'll make you walk the plank!! But whatever, he kicked off the Reed Hansen show with a mad shifty, zoomed out for your enjoyment.
+
Reed proceeded to throw numerous 180 variations back to back--nose grabbed and switch, stock nose grab 180 and then a frontside 180. A backside 180 took his name and dashed his hopes, but that's OK, for a flats three shuv would be in the cards and stomped with authority.
+
Water explosion to flats kickflip--sweet success!!
+
Pass two started out with a frontside three and was linked up with this switch frontside three (which was landed). Sweet mother of pearl, check out that precarious foot position...but I can understand if it's hard to focus on it--as if there aren't enough distractions in that shot.
+
Trick of the day, bros--wake to wake 3 shuv (doo rag-less). Lucky for you (and me) this was filmed instead of Sunday's denim...
+
I just like this shot because it looks fun. Since when was that a crime?
+
Celebratory surface one-footer: just because it feels good!
+
Brian Grubb, second off the dock for the finals, started his first run off in a mellow fashion. Two straight airs and a mute 180 were followed by a botched attempt at a wake to wake ("toeside") shuv. It's OK though, because he tried to put the pepper on pass two with this backside wake to wake indy shuv. I know someone who could use some work when it comes to framing their shots...
+
Run two continued to get Grubb's signature seasoning with a wake to wake melon body varial.
+
This is Stu rocking out with a nose grab 180. I also think that rooster tail is breathtaking...it's almost as though it's spitting him out or something. "First there was the boat and water, which then gave birth to Stu..."
+
Heck yes, it's Stu, pockets out and all, with a frontside three. He tried to link that up with a switch frontside 3, but the water gods said, "Not today, son."
+
Brandon Thomas was last off the dock and he also had a mellow first pass. He'd cap off his array of straight airs and signature 180 with a stylish re-entry backside 180.
+
Pass two was also mellow for BT, which was kicked off with this indy grab pictured right here.
+
Brandon was the only wakeskater in the finals to use the rail to his advantage. It's a boardslide, as you can see. From there, it was all about the 3 shuvs and a fall on a kickflip. (Which was landed at the very end. I could sense the mental fist pumps all around me...)
+
What's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD!

And Reed Hansen knows this.
