Grubb Wins Air Nautique Wake GamesDate: 04-30-2007
Author: Wakeskating.com Staff
This weekend, the Air Nautique Wake Games took place at the Orlando Watersports Complex. The competition format is pretty unique in that there's a team draft of sorts that's lead by team captains. By the end of the weekend, the team with the best score wins some cash for their whips (or what have you). But of course, it also functions like a standard contest, so all the bros can come out and ride if they'd like.
With that being said, Saturday's rounds of wakeskating consisted of the semi finals for the professional men, and then the finals took place for the amateur division and the professional women's division.
The four men's riders that moved on to Sunday's finals included Brian Grubb from heat one, Nick Taylor from heat two, Reed Hansen from heat three and Brandon Thomas from heat four. So far, all four riders have had a solid showing this season, with all of them being top contenders at the various Toe Jam events that took place a week prior. The amateur division was won by Cody Rivet, while the women's division title was captured by Stephanie Wamsley.
On Sunday, the men's wakeskating finals took place, with Brian Grubb keeping his momentum and taking first place. Following in second was another Toe Jam standout, Reed Hansen. Actually, third and fourth place also had Toe Jam standouts Brandon Thomas and Nick Taylor, respectively.
