Catching Up With Kampus Wakeskates Author: Wakeskating.com Staff
Images and source material courtesy of Kampus Wakeskates.
Date: 05-17-2006
After taking a break from production in 2005, Kampus is proudly re-entering the market with a new pro model and new technology to wakeskating, in addition to their Leif and Wahlman line and their timeless K-Series line.
According to Duane Pacha of Kampus Wakeskates, Clint Tompkins' first pro model is due out in May, along with a limited run of the Leif Erkkila and Steve Wahlman models. The K-Series will remain in the Kampus line up for 2006, and it's due to hit the shelves sometime in May as well.
In addition to their wakeskates, Kampus will continue to have a line of accessories that will include the KS 01, KS 02 and limited edition shoe models, and a wide variety of fins.

Out of the entire line of 2006 wakeskates, Clint's board seems to be gaining the most attention, due in part to the new technology that's being utilized. Clint's board is set to be 40.5 inches in length, with a waist width of 14.75 inches. The rocker line seems to be ultra secret, with the only tidbit being that it's "progressive custom to Clint's liking." ("No giveaways here.")

The following characteristics will be incorporated into the Clint Tompkins Series:
-Hydraulic pressed with Heat.
-Hybrid K Core Construction- Vertically laminated wood center core.
-Tri-Ax Fiberglass reinforced.
-PBT top sheet, PBT base sheet.
-Sub laminated Graphics for a long lasting durable print.
To further understand Kampus' new materials and construction methods, here is a breakdown:
Hybrid K CORE Construction
The Hybrid K CORE Construction uses running length blocks of precision cut wood, which are vertically laminated (bonded side to side) to ensure the boards' overall life and durability. This process has a proven track record in snowboards with its strength, durability and extended board life and memory.
We have defined the boards' performance by using only the highest grade choice of wood blends for the core lay-up, which consists of: Maple, Poplar, and Birch. These wood properties deliver more snap, pop and life than any other board on the market. These decks are made with 100% wood construction,...no foam used here for the center core of the board.
Tri-AX Fiberglass
We increased the life of the deck and increased the stiffness, both vertically and torsionally, by adding specifically woven Tri-Ax Fiberglass sheets to the board. The sheets are cut within 1.5 inches of the outline shape of the board to prevent splintering and to keep the fiberglass trapped within the deck for safety. With the fiberglass lay-up, the board is ensured to maintain stiffness and pop for the life of the deck.
PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA.
