Imagine having to pack up your bare essentials, leave your home for an unscheduled weekend away and ultimately becoming homeless by the beginning of the following week. It almost sounds too surreal to be true, but the exact scenario was reality for one Wakeskating.com member.

Due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana, Louis Lacour (a.k.a Liquid) has been ejected form life as he knew it. Louis and his family lost all of their possessions (including their home) to the massive flood waters that engulfed their neighborhood when a levee system protecting the neighborhood broke shortly after Hurricane Katrina pounded the city of New Orleans. Louis was able to take along a few things when they evacuated the area prior to the storm, but is now left without many of the items we so commonly take for granted.

In an effort to help Louis and his family recover from such a tragic event and hoping to get Louis back on the water as soon as possible, Wakeskating.com will be accepting donations for Louis and his family. The donations will be handed directly over to Louis and his family for them to use on whatever they may need.

Since the storm, Louis and his family have relocated to Virgina. Louis has enrolled in school there and is trying to get back to a normal life. As you can imagine, uprooting during your high school years is not the easiest thing to do. Especially after suffering such a tragic loss.

We understand that the Wakeskating.com community is made up of a lot of young guys and girls that aren't exactly raking in the dough just yet. That does present a challenge, but isn't that why most of us wakeskate in the first place? No donation is too small and remember that this is not a contest. We will all be winners for helping a brother in a time of need. If you do not have the means, or you are under the age of 18, please get your parents to donate or to help you donate to our cause.
