ok well no success today we started trying to slide start and dock start but it pulls easily just cant get us going fast enough to stay above water. we werent very particular with our spool though so im guessing thats the problem. does anyone no for a 6.5 briggs,60tooth sprocket and 12 tooth tav, with 600 feet of rope, what size our spool should be? like the inner, outer, width and sidewalls?

I have that 6.5 hp briggs with a 12t to 72t and 8in. inner diameter spool and it pulls perfect. Today, I actually took the gas tank off and modified the throttle a little bit and now it has a bunch more power. Ha, I didn't think it would be that easy..

7 or 8 in inner diameter 5 and up inches wide... 12 to 15 inch outer diameter.... just make the spool fit into your frame.... the only thing that needs to be set is the inner diameter....

mattc, you mean that little oil hole where you can put oil in is in the way of the tav? yeah that happens to alot of people, you just grind off one of the little fin type things on the back of the tav.
