also was wondering, why the TEAM was alittle more expensive, compared to the horan pro model, the pro model seems like a better board.
* i went with the ben horan pro model * FTW |

mclovin, the team board comes with a set of udders, the horan does not.
I like that horan model...but it's hard to say that one is better than the other...they have different design characteristics to suit different styles. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

well, it's a preference thing..in my mind, ben's concave is more effective, or skateboard-ish in that when you set your feet on the deck, you can feel it on your toes and heels (and you don't need large feet). And I'm personally excited about it because it's pretty much unlike any wood conave I've ever seen. I have pics from the expo, but the design has changed a bit (I will be getting updated pics ASAP). The concave used to go all the way to the beginning of the kicktail, but now there is some sort of flat spot before it transitions into the side to side concave. The rail also used to be a 80 degrees, but once they widened the board they realized they needed to change the rail shape so it would perform like they wanted, and now it's a steep 45 degrees.
Other than that, the concave seems a bit steeper, and it extends towards the middle more than most models. Ever since boards were getting wider, it seemed like the concave was out more towards the rails with a huge flat spot in the center. Ben's board has five inches of flat spot, and then the concave begins.
The team is more like your traditional concave--it is asymmetrical, comes with udders (you have to drill the holes to use them) and one difference from last year's model to this year's is that the concave was pushed out 1/4 of an inch on each side.
That's basically what I have written for my expo update, outside of a few other technical things like their sealing process. Expect pics of everything in a day at the latest (this time I mean it!) and pics of the revised horan whenever I get them.
one other piece of info is that the boards will NOT have a pbt base. Mikey never really liked that stuff, and having PBT at the expo was the only way they'd have a graphic ready in time. Push came to shuv (ha) and they're going to use heat transfers to apply the graphics. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
