big_dee45, ive heard complaints about both. it is a new technology though, so thats expected. Everything improves with time, winches will get better.
you're going to need to find someone who has rode a few times (at least) with each one. good luck with that. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

we have had a few prob with our winch but in my eyes all have been minor, like in one case there was a set screw that just got overlooked on the axle b4 getting sent out, sent the set screw and all is good. as far as our winch goes with pulling, its the only one on the market that i know that uses the clutch we do and it honestly feels like a boat is pulling you up. no jerking for anyone who rode the one we had at the blacktop brodeo.
my friend has a black box and had a prob with the rope spool but other than that it seems to work fine as well. i havent riden behind it but it uses the same clutch that we had on at the brodeo. rewind also uses the same style clutch. |

well Im not sure sure what clutch system the grinch is currently using, but everyone seems to be stuck on the idea of friction based clutches, so Id be willing to bet its still a friction based clutch (headhunter??) as far as I know piratewinch is still the only winch that uses a directly meshing gear system with a hand clutch (aka wet multiplate setup) this is technology we revolutionized in the winch industry, and it means once you let go of the clutch with your hand there is NO slip giving it an extremely smooth and fast accellerating pull, the down side of my winch is that it is a little harder to operate, but it is alot more versatile than some of the smaller powerplant based winches, but again mine are standing at a 2200.00 dollar pricetag as well, however this includes everything but, your handle, gas, and a buddy it already comes with 400ft. rope and oil. . . . so far the list of people that have ridden the pirate winch goes. . .Justin Scott, Chris at Omen, Kyle Walton, Myself, John Ruark, and I cant remeber if Justin Shock got to ride it, and so far the only complaint was from Kyle Walton who said it was too fast, and it was, because I mis-judged how much speed he would get coming off the rail, but my advise is to ask around to some people who have ridden several types of winch _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

The BLACKBOX does need to be warmed up to do deep water starts. We suggest in our owners manual that when you first recieve your BLACKBOX you turn it on and let it run. I know when you first get it your so pumped you want to start ripping people right away. Youve got to understand what a winch is. Its a motor. Everything at first has a "break in period" car/boat/jetski/motorcylce. _________________ Danny Turner

kent we are using a torque converter style, that as u would say"we revolutionized in the winch industry"
it slips for a smooth get up and no recoil that we found on the clutch that we had at the brodeo |

headhuntermx4, ahhh a CVT, I played around with those, may I make a suggestion call your mfg. and stock spare belts, seriously CVTs need to have the belts replaced after so many hours, but its a fair trade off for how smooth and simple they are kudos on ditching the Centrifugal its a real loser _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

bigrand, yeah we are about 2% from production, s I wont go into details, but essentially supply and time complications, but yes we are gearing up to do a production run of ten, and based on how easy it is for me to maintain the logistics we may do more, the web site shoudl be updated in 2 weeks _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |
