I think a lot of people on here heard that Andrew is on the Leatherman action sports team. I dug up some info and posted it all here:

http://www.wakeskating.com/showarticle.php?a=1030

First, the response on the leatherman instagram post with Andrew's shot is actually pretty radical. The one dude who tried to knock it was pretty much shot down.

Second, to see the company Andrew is in, as far as representing this brand goes, is huge. I think this is a pretty amazing partnership and it makes so much sense. And straight up, Andrew is an awesome representative for the brand. Congratulations!

Sick Andrew! I am so jealous.

Sorry to say Leatherman but those new tools are weak. Why make the "action sports tool" less useful than the original multi tool? I don't see any of those being an adequate replacement for my Wave.

I think their skate tools and surf tools look really good. Ive always liked using skate tools instead of carrying around multiple tools, and theirs looks really solid and compact. I am also thinking about picking up their Thruster surf tool to keep in my surf bag rather than carrying a separate scrapper, phillips, and fin key. They are small, do everything I need, and I can just leave it in my bag and know it's always there. I dont snowboard, but I can see how snowboarders need tools too.

I think leatherman fits well in action sports. Riders need tools, but they dont want to carry more than they need too. There are a lot of skate/snow/surf tools out there, but a lot of the ones I've used are pretty poor quality. I'd hope that leatherman puts out a high quality product.

I also just like seeing other brands support wakeskating/wakeskaters

I don't think those other tools are supposed to fully replace something like the wave. They're compact, sick little go-to devices. I think they're pretty good devices for introducing someone to the brand who might not otherwise carry something like that.

GO BIG OR GO HOME!

Or something.

Damn this is cool! Awesome to see new brands like that recognize!

There's a couple of tools there that I'd consider throwing in to my bag for quick-fixes.

You really like the look of the skate tool over a typical $5-10 T-handle tool? Using that tool looks like it would slice in to my hand if I wanted anything over hand tight.

I haven't used phillips head hardware for years. I don't see an allen key on the tool unless that's what a "truck key" is.

Also, what about changing bearings for people who don't like using their trucks to do this?

Where is the axle rethreader?

I honestly don't even know what a 1/4" hex bit driver would be used for.

Bottle opener/grip tape file... seems like fluff to me.

Everything I have seen Leatherman put out is of the highest quality. I imagine these tools will be very solid as well.

These tools are about the same size and weight as the Wave with limited functionality. A wakeskater could never rely on one of those tools while winching or on a jetski.
