As if Paul's torn ACL wasn't enough, I too did mine in a couple of weeks ago...

CAREFUL ON THE WAKE TO WAKES!

The scene was a glassy Saturday afternoon on the river. Ballast tank full. Charged the lip like a red headed step child. Flew waaaaaay farther and higher than ever.. landing way in front of the other side and in the flats.. a little off center because I didn't expect to go THAT far.. Back foot slips off, front stays on.. and voila.. 22mph splits. Pop Pop goes the knee.

It happens too quick.

Be careful out there.

First comes the surgery later next month. Then the rehab. Then rest until sometime next spring.

Yippee

Did the same thing about a year and a half ago. Had surgery May 2008 and am back to normal riding. staying away from the wake to wakes for a while though. Knee feels good. Rehab the shizzle out of that. u will lose some leg muscle but hit the gym everyday. That sucks, Good luck!

junglesmacks, Sad

Make sure you get a motion machine and the game ready system if you can. The cold and compression helped me out a lot. Oh yeah and fiber is your friend before and after surgery.

It's such a crappy injury! Right before surgery your knee will likely feel like it's all better and then you go under the knife and start all over again. Who's doing your surgery?

Did the splits in two separate runs a few weeks ago. Didnt feel too bad after the first split but it scared me a little, only to do the same thing a half hour later. I did not hear a tear or pop and my knee isnt clicking or anything.

I managed to not ride for a week to let it chill, got a stretchy brace and took some switch sets last week. It feels a little weak and sore but still intact.

what kinda stretches can you do for your knees?

uidzero, did you go to Orlando Orthopedic? May have to make a trip down there.

Sitting on a torn meniscus and maybe more, find out the MRI results the 23rd, hoping it's not too bad but if it is just wanna get surgery and start rehabbing it. Knees take a beating, keep them strong and stretch them every time you ride.

i missed a fs bigspin and my back foot just barely dropped off.. boom, the split, and i heard something pop.. i iced it down and took 800 mg ibuprofen daily for a week.. and kept it in a neoprene brace or ace bandage.. it still hurts and is weak, but i'm trying to stay away from the dr.. working it out in the pool seems to help it strengthen up.

That's all good if it's something like an MCL/PCL but if it was your ACL that popped you could easily dislocate your knee next time something like that happens.
