just feel like saying hi im new to this site and wakeskating. never surfed or wakeboarded. can only ollie on a skateboard. but i started wakeskating recently. today was my 4th time out. day1 i got up on my first try and everytime after. day 2 i learned surface 180s and 360s. day 3 i worked on ollies. and today (day4) i finally landed some ollies (in the hs flats), and started workin on shuvs and tried a 180 once. almost landing the shuvs and the 180. im 5'11 160lbs and riding a gator 43 (not my board). my ollies are about a foot off the water (level out too) and it seems like i cant get the pop that i want. im putting practically all my weight on my back foot when i stomp and it seems like the board wont come out of the water as high as i feel like it can. should i try a smaller board, or is it just about my technique? maybe my foot placement?

welcome nephew......glad u got it bad

the board sounds perfect, u just need some practice.

like aaron reed said, the ollie is a rhythm.

so cut out into the flats harder than u normally do so u can flatten off and get some slack. now u wanna get low, real low.

and it's almost like a swell rolling through

push down a bit on your front foot, then slam your back foot through the water.....back foot all the way back, front foot about 2/3 way up ducked. as the this happens u need to as quickly as possible lift up your front foot to allow the board to come up...almost straight up. as she does, unweight your back foot and push forward a bit with your front foot to level out. now transfer your weight back to your backfoot for a safe landing.......ride away clean

Cool
