So I ordered 1000' of 7/64 amsteel blue from Seattle marine http://www.seattlemarine.net/productcart/pc/msg.asp?message=83#index

and after placing my order I got an email saying they only ship in 600' spools. So my question would be could I get the 600' and 400' lengths and tie them together to make 1000'? I just don't want something to get messed up because of the knot I'll have in the line.

you could also get it spliced. try a ship rigger, or a sailboat shop. I had my amsteel blue winch line for my landcruiser spliced and pulled trucks with it, I also tied a knot in it for a quick fix and it pulled fine, it was hell getting the knot out though

They will special order the full 1000' spool if you can wait a few extra days. Tell them what you want and they should hook it up.
