Higher pull?

Tell me how stupid this would be:

Strap/chain the winch in the bed of my truck with the winch in the rear of the bed, by the gate. Would it rip the hooks out of the bed?

weld up a 2-3 ft "L" extension to attach to the hitch and raise the pull height.

It seems like higher= better pull????

na that works. my buddy's hitch is rusted into the receiver so we just used a couple dirtbike tiedowns and wasn't a problem. i have a bullet lines frame and unfortunately john didn't weld any eyes on the sides for stakes. we run it tied down on the ground too. it just donkey kicks like hans rey

mojo, I didnt figure it would be a problem. The only downside is you have to keep jumping in the bed to run it.

The extension would be cool because you could run it without bending over, or jumping in the bed.

ya i had john weld one on to my frame. he built the whole winch and after a handful of problems it runs like a champ now. the hitch is definitely the best way, but it isn't nessecary(i cant spell that word)
