well sadly Lake Erie is still pretty damn frozen.
So, I took a kitesurfing training kite and got a little unsafe in a parking lot with my skateboard on Sunday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Fmwj9wk1rQ
Actually worked pretty well - it's a 3 meter kite as opposed to the 12m-14m kites that you can use to really suck yourself into the air. I don't want to die, really...
But it got my imagination going...
I've actually only kitesurfed on a snowboard, on the frozen lake erie (which rocks), because I couldn't afford a water board.
...has anyone ever tried wakeskating with a ktie? A friend of mine has done it with a surfboard... but that probably has a lot more float, I would imagine. Anyone ever done it? Any kiters here?
Worst case, i wonder if I can take a used wakeskate and attach footstraps to it for kite duty, unscrew them for wakeskate duty? I've got a wood board with a foam top... I'd really hate to F it up though just to try to double-duty my wakeskate as a kiteboard. |

Yeah, just like an 05 Anthem! lol (what a coincidence!)
I can't wake for Lake Erie to unfreeze.
Hell, I don't even have to wait THAT long - I have a full wetsuit from kitesurfing, even though I don't have a water board (don't ask). I don't know if wakeskating would look cool at all wearing a wet suit though, sort of like wearing spandex bicycle shorts, lol...
I have a mountainboard that has bindings, I've seen people do that.
I'm not going to be getting any air with a 3 meter kite though... unless a tornado tears through here or something.

I've got a 12 meter kite for the water (and snow). That trainer kite was actually my friend's. My trainer kite is just a 1 meter kite - totally good for nothing outside of training... should have bought a bigger one - I just might anyway, maybe a 4 or 5 meter kite.
I probably should put fins on it then, for kiting use, I imagine? |

| If my understanding is correct, kiteboards are slightly longer and have less rocker than traditional wakeboards. Since there is no constant power source i.e. a boat/ski you need a board that minimizes drag. I don't think a wakeskate is going to work out too well. But don't let me discourage you. the only way you'll know for sure is if you try. |

my bro owns the kite.......fo rizzle.......he gave me a mag a few years back and there was a guy throwing an indy shuv on a wakeskate behind a kite and that shiat dropped my jaw and it broke. _________________ dbanana wrote:

Ive been wanting a Kite to do this for a long time. Its pretty sick. Harnessing mother nature to get rad is pretty metal. _________________

Its too bad that wind = chop. I remember seeing a sequence of bri chmel doing a shuv a long time ago somewhere, pretty sick. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

Raven, you're forgetting how few people really have the ocean where its windy... i mean sure i've seen kite boarders on my lake once but that was the windiest day i've ever seen... and the only day _________________

I'm not its in my place to upload that footage. Its from a Snowskate DVD that I bought a while ago. Jordan who runs snowskate.ca will know the vid and can upload the footy if he wants.
From what I remember I think it was off a wave, leaned back and riding a flat deck. |
