well sadly Lake Erie is still pretty damn frozen.

So, I took a kitesurfing training kite and got a little unsafe in a parking lot with my skateboard on Sunday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Fmwj9wk1rQ

Actually worked pretty well - it's a 3 meter kite as opposed to the 12m-14m kites that you can use to really suck yourself into the air. I don't want to die, really...

But it got my imagination going...
I've actually only kitesurfed on a snowboard, on the frozen lake erie (which rocks), because I couldn't afford a water board.

...has anyone ever tried wakeskating with a ktie? A friend of mine has done it with a surfboard... but that probably has a lot more float, I would imagine. Anyone ever done it? Any kiters here?

Worst case, i wonder if I can take a used wakeskate and attach footstraps to it for kite duty, unscrew them for wakeskate duty? I've got a wood board with a foam top... I'd really hate to F it up though just to try to double-duty my wakeskate as a kiteboard.

Yeah, just like an 05 Anthem! lol (what a coincidence!)
I can't wake for Lake Erie to unfreeze.
Hell, I don't even have to wait THAT long - I have a full wetsuit from kitesurfing, even though I don't have a water board (don't ask). I don't know if wakeskating would look cool at all wearing a wet suit though, sort of like wearing spandex bicycle shorts, lol...

I have a mountainboard that has bindings, I've seen people do that.
I'm not going to be getting any air with a 3 meter kite though... unless a tornado tears through here or something.
Shocked

I've got a 12 meter kite for the water (and snow). That trainer kite was actually my friend's. My trainer kite is just a 1 meter kite - totally good for nothing outside of training... should have bought a bigger one - I just might anyway, maybe a 4 or 5 meter kite.

I probably should put fins on it then, for kiting use, I imagine?

If my understanding is correct, kiteboards are slightly longer and have less rocker than traditional wakeboards. Since there is no constant power source i.e. a boat/ski you need a board that minimizes drag. I don't think a wakeskate is going to work out too well. But don't let me discourage you. the only way you'll know for sure is if you try.

Raven, you're forgetting how few people really have the ocean where its windy... i mean sure i've seen kite boarders on my lake once but that was the windiest day i've ever seen... and the only day

I'm not its in my place to upload that footage. Its from a Snowskate DVD that I bought a while ago. Jordan who runs snowskate.ca will know the vid and can upload the footy if he wants.

From what I remember I think it was off a wave, leaned back and riding a flat deck.
