New Alliance big ollie contest. Timmy K only man to clear the 26" high gap. Props to Tim And Gator Boards.

Anyone witness the contest? How did the bi-levels do? Not good enough I guess.

he only got 26"? i can do that shizzle on a skateboard. ryan lemons (dont accuse me of worship, just an example) can funkin annialate that height man. LAME

jboss, the ollies are alot different. correct me if im wrong but isnt the skate ollie record aroun like 46"??

yea, but those skaters only ollie, they literally only train their ollies. besides go watch lemons ollie on www.integrity-wake.com and you can see that the ollie height is pretty close to the height of his board, which is 41", well over 26".

Aaron Reed won the last one that Alliance did I think it was over 30", they must have had some crappy conditions. I have to cop that new Alliance.

lemons ollie is HUGE, but i think ive seen reed 2 looks massive, and everything is huge with reed, GET YOUR AIR ON! LIKE AARON!

Yeah, not to mention the fact that they started out cold at 26 inches. I don't know about anybody else, but i like to warm up before I ride and i seriously take it slow, but that's me. So I'll give anyone credit for doing 26 inches, straight up.

Also, reed cleared the bar, but he fell after landing. Or, that was the report I had gotten.

And kind of like headhunter said, tim can pop his shizzle. Watch relentless...I'm a believer. he's always had a bit of a sketchy style, but I like how he'll actually do his flip tricks over something.

Hopefully I'm following you, but do you mean that sometimes you guys will go just go out cold and try to do your passes (no warm up)? If so, that makes a lot of sense, especially for "water competitions" like wakeboarding and wakeskating. That's kind of what I hate about wakeboarding comps...you go out and ride cold, and I honestly don't get out enough to be super psyched on that.

Snowboarding is a different story though. Usually you'll get time to warm up, and even so, I snowboard a lot more than I wakeboard or wakeskate, so I have a lot more confidence when it comes to consistency.

Or, when I'm pressed for time and I just go out to skate for a bit, I don't warm up as much and I can tell that towards the end, I'm riding a lot better.

but at least someone knows what i'm talkign about!

And as for this high ollie crap, check out reed's buoy ollie in sfumato. It's like, so high right now...

electricsnow, You pretty much got the concept of it, except instead of us going out and doing planned contest runs, I get whoever I'm riding with to compete against each other in a made up competition. I don't have a set contest run (I probly should) and I usually don't compete with my friends in these "contests" unless they want me to ride against them switch, which they usually don't. I do it for them, not me.

It's mostly to get them more consistent and for them to get the most out of riding, whether we go out and have these little contests against each other or we go to the lagoon and see who can get the best barrels in the mangroves or we just have a fun day of riding out in the bay, we always have a good ass time Very Happy

And we really don't have those contests much, we've only done it a few times. And don't picture it like a planned/organized/set up/rules kind of contest. Just me telling them it's a 3 fall 3 pass run and they have to beat the other person. It's not a contest atmosphere (which probly helps their riding), it's more like a game of SKATE, just not both doing the same tricks or letters.

We just like to ride and have a good time Cool

Nick, I totally get you. I wasn't trying to make it out like you're a trick skier training for a contest! Very Happy

I think it's a good idea though, like you said for consistency and stuff. But if I can, I really like to take advantage of warming up. Maybe it's superstitious, but I like to think that warming up will prevent some stupid injury. Awhile ago, a friend of mine got to skate with jason dill in miami and he said that jason starts out really slow...so you know, you get all types...

Oh, and as for the set contest run, that's kind of interesting. It's probably a good idea to have some tricks in your head. But on the flip side, I'm always impressed when I hear people like shaun white say "I like to start with something big (like a switch 9) and then he'll make his run up from there." It's like wow, for one, he's damn consistent if he can do that. And two, he obviously has a huge bag of tricks that he can just pull out of his ass and be like, "whatever."

Also, it's kind of cool to take advantage of a good feeling. Like, if you're really feeling "on" and you just try something unplanned and make it, that's pretty cool. I get the impression that that's what collin wright did during his winning run on the wakeskate tour last year.

Speaking of collin, isn't it funny that on the nevin advertisement that sometimes appears on the top of the site, they spell his name "colliong wright" or something like that? It's like, his far east counterpart or something Very Happy

ok u guys gotta understand the conditions were HORRIBLE. ive pulled timmy and seen him ollie a kicker that was 3.5feet. the guys in tampa took him out on the hilsborough river and he told em to pull him at 27 and he ollied a dock that as only a foot tall but over 15 feet long. all my friends use it as a rail and he cleared it.
