Has anyone ever contemplated making a wakeskate by laminating layers of acrylic?
You could even use a heat-gun to mold the deck into any shape you wanted…and then once it cools it would never lose its rocker…and it wouldn’t even need to be water proofed.
I have a couple large sheets of ¼ inch plexi-glass…I’m thinking of doing a little experiment to see if it works.
My plan is to make a jig with 2x4’s…then lightly heat up one layer, apply acrylic glue on the top, lay another layer on top, continue to lightly heat the layers, and then weight it into the jig. Then I’ll repeat the process once more to create 3 layers (3/4 inch deck).
A clear wakeskate! I think it might just work. And if it doesn’t…it will still be fun.

Matt, you should do it--DIY. Even if it doesn't work, I think it's cool to try and build your own wakeskate. When I was like 10 I tried to make my own skateboard...I basically ended up tracing the template to an old board and my dad cut it out nicely, but uh...it didn't have any concave or kicktails I still painted it...
anyway, if you do it, you should record each step and write an article if it works.

Matt_French, yea thats right. or you could have two strips of grip tape giong down the sides cause you dont really need grip in the middle. ill work on inventing a clear grip tape now. i am thinking some way of coating su... i have said too much already. once i figure it out i can give it to you to be part of the company. then once we get huge guess who isnt going to ride for our company... thats right nick you non-beleiver. go ride for some lame company like cassete or integrity for kampus.

you know what would be cool...i could spray paint a stencil ontp the sticky side on the gribe before i put it down...or put a sticker or whatever under the grip so you can see it from the bottom...
...im waiting on that clear grip Frye...like completly clear...not like that gimmickly quasi-clear stuff that santa cruz makes...but like invisible clear. In fact...im consider just puttting some glue on the top of the board...and then sprinkling some smashed glass on top. Then my next step will be to visit the local drug store and pick up a life-time supply of band-aids and polysporin...and some old easter candy thats on sale. maybe a new toothbrush...i could use one pretty soon (the little blue line is almost all gone)

i was looking at acrylic guitars yesterday, weird... it would be really sick if you made it so there was stuff in the middle of the board. like do a few layers then put a sticker inside or something small and 3D that would look so cool.

i just had a thought...i rather important question must be answered before i waste anymore time on this project...
does acrylic float??
if it doesn't...it would be a real shame to have to replace your deck everytime you fall.
