I want to build one so bad, i have so many sick spots around that it would be perfect for, today my buddy was pulling me in this huge pond on the side of the road and the f-ing policia stopped and gave me a ticket for reckless driving, if you of any plans for a winch or know anything about how to build one, let me know

cheap winch: put your car/truck on a jack...attach rope to wheel...step on the gas pedal! (medical bills not included)

gorath112, dude that sucks you got a ticket! You should find some private property where you can skate behind a car.. make sure you have permission to be on the land and you should be fine.. I doubt a cop could give u a ticket under those circumstances.

There really is no cheap way to build a stand alone winch. It will cost you money pretty much no matter what. You should get a bunch of friends together and all pitch in for a winch to make it cheaper.

Jonesie, sorta, basically you can build something similar to the rewind, for pretty cheap, but if your going to try and build one closer to mine be ready to spend about 2300 dollars (b/c your prices wont be wholesale)

How much is 'pretty cheap'? Haha like I said, money is an issue with me right now, but some could be spared for a good cause like a winch. I just started wskating but without a boat, its a challenge just to get out, so a winch seems extremely practical right now. Thanks for any of your help and feel free to reply via PM or w/e...

kento911, how much do you think it would cost to make a rewind type winch? Like Jonesie, im strapped for cash and can't afford any of these new fandangle ones. Are we talking under $1000 for the parts?

Jonesie, s34n, pretty cheap at single unit, non wholesale price. . .your price, would be about 1200 I believe, but since I only looked into buiding one like that, and never actually did it that could be wrong, but Im pretty confident in the numbers, don texpect alot of deep waters ou tof it hough if your going to use the centifugal clutch method as apposedto the gear drive tranny that Im using
