PostPosted: Feb 27, 2005 7:47 pm    Post subject: Board recommendations.. Reply with quote

Im buying my first wakeskate these days, and I need some advice. I am quite experienced at regular wakeboarding, but never tried wakeskate and im not a terrific skateboarder.

I want to know what boards that are good for me. Price is not really an issue, but graphics are important. I want some sweet looking graphics, I think the 2005 Hyperlite Karma and Byerly boards look cool. Are they any good?

I really appreciate all hep and advice here.
Thanks

The two hot boards right now are the integrity and the cassette bilevel. The hyperlites are quite nice too. I have a byerly and like it just fine. Just depends a whole lot on preference. Demo if you can.

If you are looking for something to get into the sport without alot of price, kampus k39 is good.

Overall, if you are just learning, anything will work just fine. Over time you will figure out what you like better and then you will know what to buy next.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, thats helpful. Unfortenately, I wont be able to demo.

What is it with this bi-level? Is it as great as everyone says? Will I be able to benefit from it, even though I am not experienced?

And also, I am 6'3", or 190cm tall. How long should my board be?

And what is really the difference between the 100$ boards and the 250$ boards that look just the same?

Thanks again

I havent ridden a bilevel, its just one of the hot boards now. only time will tell if its as good as some say.

Youll probably want a bigger board 42, 43 inches, but it really isnt a big deal. If your going hyperlite, Id pry go with the 111 or 112 ( i think those are the sizes anyways).

Differences range from materials, to concave or flat, to channeled bases, to foam or grip tops. Like I said earlier, anything will really work fine to start out.

"but graphics are important. I want some sweet looking graphics"

Are you serious? What the hell do graphics matter when your riding? If you have that kind of attitude, go by yourself a hyperlite so you can brag to your buddies about your "SICK GRAFIXXXXX"

Hahaha shut up s34n, its just a matter of personal preference.
There are tons of boards out there, and I can get a board that is both good to ride on and looks cool. Thats why I asked about it; the guys here can recommend a board that is good in both looks and quality. You should have understood that.

Quality should be pretty much your only priority. Who cares if its got a good graphic, if your just going to hit rails and ruin it anyway. Buy the deck you like, and if it's got a good graphic, then BONUS for you. Maybe I did misunderstand you, since in your first post the only thing you seemed to be concerned about is the looks. Never once did I see, "what board has the best durability/nicest ride". SILLY ME.

get an f'in bi-level, you'll be able to take advantage of it, and you're a pretty sturdy guy so weight shouldn't be a problem. The graphics are pretty sweet too, simple yet awesome.

or get an integrity

or get a k39

I would say get a Bi level, since you are new you will be able to progress on a really good board that not all of ous got to use as a first board. You seem too big for a 41 integrity so I would suggest a LF impulse 43 grip or foam what ever you prefer.

For cryin out s34, if I can have both quality and looks Ill take both, which I can. And I care care if its good graphics, although its not my only priority. Lets end this silly quarrel. Sorry if I was not clear in my first post, but everyone else seemed to understand it.

And thanks for the input Morhine and LFfool, it sounds like a bi-level is a good choice.'

For the sake of being helpful, I'd have to agree and get a Bilevel. If money isn't an issue, you mind as well go for it!

Yeah I personally dont think the bi-level has bad graphics and its one of the top in my opinion the top board out in the market. So you get both good graphics and great board. Enjoy you will improve a lot, I would suggest the Hampson 42 it seems more of your size.

Are they offering a 42 4-trak by cassette this year? That would be a kick a s board for you man. The bi-level is an advanced ride, especially for someone who doesn't skate. I'd recommend a concave, 42 or 43 would be puno. Good luck homes.
