um, i just did this for a friend
first install the cd with itunes and stuff
then put your music into itunes
then plug in the ipod
it will ask you some stuff, do what seems right
then it will load
took some messing around with though
a few times it wouldnt show up in itunes, dont really know why, but then it worked and has worked fine since. |

| oh, and you do need to format it, cause i remember one of the things it asks you is if you want to format it for pc. but it does it all for you and takes no time at all. |

...well apparently ipods are better because they are easier to use. since christmas there have been like 3 threads created on this site and wb.com because people cant figure out how to connect them to their comps. yeah, ease of use my ass...
and there are players out there that are just as good as the ipod. the rio carbon is smaller, lighter, the batteries last longer, holds a gig more and is less expensive than an ipod mini. the creative zen touch also makes use of the same touchpad technology as the ipod, the menus are just as simple to navigate through, and is cheaper...i could go on...
and yes, ive used ipods before. i probably would have bought one a year ago, except i couldnt understand the fact that they only get about 8 hours on a charge and there was also people's batteries were dying and apple had no fix for it...
and i dont see how this has anything to do with video editing. in addition, there has been only one or two feature films shown in theaters nationally that was edited on final cut pro. other than that the industry still uses better programs. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

complete waste of money.
you can get an mp4 player with 40 gb for less than the 40gb ipod.
you can get a 60gb creative for 150-200 less than the 40gb ipod.
on the old gen ipods the battery was only guaranteed for a year and usually died before then was so expensive to replace youd be better off buying a new ipod (or a decent mp3 player) and now theyve cleaned up a bit and are only asking around 150 for replacement battery, but its still tomfoolery.

I love mine, theres no other MP3 player that I know of that has so many accessorys to go with it...
Alot of people hate on it, to them I say hate away, I could care less what you think, I like it and it works well for me and thats all that matters...
Scotta, you say the same thing every time and I reply with the same thing, so lets just call it a tie and tell people to research MP3 players and get the one thats right for them... Thats what you did and its what I did.

Scotta how many cases for the rio are there? (cause theres a good 500 diffrent ones for the iPod.)? Voice recoders? Some type of portable music system that your mp3 player is built for (Boise tune dock (theres quite a few more)) How about extended battery pack? How about the Burton jacket that has a protective spot spacificly for the iPod? How about a media recorder that allows you to transfer files off of your flash media cards directly onto the ipod? How about a lazer pointer for the ipod? (Sadly I'm not kidding about this http://www.ipodlounge.com/gearguide_specs_more.php?id=5087_0_5_0_M) Infared remotes for the ipod. A dock that can send music wirlessly?( http://www.networx.de/beamdock/ipod_beamdock.html ) How about the way that the AC addapter has plugs that can be replaced so you can still use your ipod in counties with funky outlets? I could go on, but do you really want me to Scott? Oh and please don't come back saying that you don't want any of that because the issue wasn't what you wanted. The question was what does the iPod have that the Rio does not...
I don't understand why you can't just agree that different people have diffrent needs for an MP3 player. As far as the stetup thing I belive the ease of use has allways been about "user interface" not setup, not that setup isn't a breze... If they would just follow the directions... iPods don't come from the factory formatted because they are hard drives, and as I'm shure you know that depending on what platform or OS you use the HD format is different. Windows XP runs NTFS, and since Apples and previous Windows platforms run diffrent formats. You seem to take every cheap shot at the iPod that you can, even twisting the information to a state where there isn't even truth in it. There wouldn't have been 3 threads if thoes retards ever spent 2 seconds clicking on the damn FAQ link I posted. ( http://ipodlounge.com/faqs.php ) I know that everytime this comes up THE BATTERY THING IS STUPID! You spend more on AA's every year and a half then what it costs for a replacement. ( under $45 shipped) Or you ship it into Apple and they will mail you a referbished iPod for $99... (Replacement batteries and instructions can be found at: http://www.ipodbattery.com/ )
You don't like the iPod fine, but no need to go around slandering it just because it doesnt suit your personal needs. Also don't assume that the only reason anyone would buy one is so they can be trendy....
Cheers,
Richard. _________________ The aforementioned postings and musings are the opinions of myself in their entirety and are not the opinions of wakeskating.com

You kids will one day figure it out that PC's are crap and so are most all of the products made for them... and as for video editing i have used both and the mac crushes even badass PC's with Avid settups.
I will always own a mac and i will use final cut till they make something better.. george lucas used final cut to make a complete star wars film, and well if its good enough for that well then its good enough for me =) _________________ arson-wake.com |
