can you get a college scholarship for wakeskating or wakeboarding?

I have heard of some, I think there rare, but ya, there is some. I am going to try to get one. Try calling the college you want to go to, or speak to your guidance counsalor.

fat chance....any school would rather give a scholarship for football or something than wakeboarding. you maybe able to get a couple hundred bucks or something, but not something that would closely resemble a scholarship....and if there was a chance for wakeboarding, there is certainly not gonna be one for wakeskating.

You probably won't receive one directly from a University, at least not within the next few years. They would have to be privately funded. It would have to be a NCAA approved sport I believe in order for the University to give you scholarships I believe, and I am not sure but I don't think wakeboarding or wakeskating at any school is a NCAA sport, just intercollegiant. I could be entirely wrong on all of this though.

no you are entirely right, it is not an NCAA sport, and most likely will never be...continue to compete at club level.

I am not going to start a new topic, because this kind of in a way goes with this topic.

I was reading a mag. on college, and SATs and all that good stuff today, came across a page for Florida Gulf Coast University. There was acually a picture of a wakeboarder on there, which is what caught my eye. Anyone go there or know anything that could tell me some stuff about the school. I think my mom said its a decent school. Any thoughts to help me out? Do they have wakeboarding club, or tema or anything?

Ya,ya, I know this is WAKESKATING.com, but as most of you know, I wakeboard as well...thanks for any help.

Umm thanx for the advice. For your information, I got that stuff already, thats easily found information, on collegeboard.com it doesnt ever say wakeboarding or water skiing even if it does. So I was asking, because in this case it says nothing.

Now, anyone that goes to, or went to that school, could you tell me aoubt campus stuff? Like the stuff people who go there know about that could be helpful. I think I am going to look at the campus.
