soooo.....

there isnt anything special about it? just a bunch of new faces? not like that isnt enough to make me wanna buy a dvd, but how is the editing and filming? how would you compare it to sfumato or asterisk?

i wasnt that impressed, i mean of course the riding was awesome but, the editing was ok and there wasnt any amazing filming, i mostly enjoyed watching the new guys ride, i still think the best video by far is sfumato

What kind of music did they use? That can usually have a big impact on how people feel about the movie. Also the camera angles. I know Justin Stephens said after filming Asterisk he had a whole new perspective on shooting wakeskating. But I think shots like Tim K's in Relentless, where its filmed from a tube or another rider, with a fisheye lense are just aweful, and I some of those in the Fill in the Blanks trailer. I know the lines of tricks guy throw down are way more tech than single on trick shots but I think there are better ways to film lines. I like Attention Deficit's chase tower, that looks pretty sick in my opinion. Anyways, looking forward to seeing it when I get it as well. I don't care what its like, you've still gotta support new filmmakers in the industry, especially all skate movies.

I just got my copy of FITB and I think it is pretty sick....
the creativity and time that was put into it is definitely noticeable. I don't see how anyone could say they were disappointed. Sfumato is bad ass as well, but I can honestly say that I enjoy FITB just as much or more.
The editing is on beat and goes well with everything, and the level of riding is disgustingly bad ass.
The section like the film Waking Life is very cool, that surprised me to see that. If you haven't seen Waking Life, you should.
The music choices are incredible in my opinion. You have good music from all different genres, the donnas, air, the sea and cake, modest mouse, badly drawn boy, manitoba, franz ferdinand, yeah yeah yeahs, mofro, and you got your hip hop with zion I, and even a live video of a rockin tune from an up and coming band called Corban Eldra. the music is definitely spread out nicely.
FITB is definitely worth checking out.

just my 2 cents,
Laters

[ I only got to check it out over at a friends house,.. really good vid. and most importantly "different" though i'd like to watch it closer a few more times.. but i think people need to have a little more respect for the filmakers and the huge amount of time and effort it takes to put together a 40 minute vid.. or however long f..i.t.b is... but . people just write stuff off so quick because of small shizzle .... thats the nature of the internet though..bashing behind some screen..... e

using criticism as fake participation..

i'll support filmmakers that i think deserve to be making films on a nationally distributed level, and not just some random guy with some friends and a DV camera. every time i see a film from someone new, i think back to ruck's editorial in alliance earlier in the summer...

btw im film major. take that for what you want.

im interested in that section that resembles Waking Life. sounds like it could be cool. thanks for the nice review evanboarder11.

the first time i watched it i was dissapointed. it just seemed nothing out of the ordinary. but the more i watched it and the more i thought about it, the more i realized i was just focusing on it's flaws.
and the more i watched and thought about it the more i liked it. the riding is incredible of course, MOST of the editing is really good (especially the integrity part). my favorite thing about it is how it shows wakeskating where it is now. if you watched the wakeskating in decline, then linear perspective, then the various wakeskating parts in all those wakeboarding videos along the way, then snap, sfumato and asterisk chronologically; inherently fitb fills in where we're at now. and now is that point where it's really starting to blow up,(probably) and fitb shows that.

i do still personally enjoy sfumato and even asterisk more though.

evanboarder11, i loved waking life, and when i saw that part i also took notice to the homage.

just got it today and I was semi-imperessed, like satori* said it takes a few times to really start to like it more and more. I'm sure i'll watch it a few more times tonight and a lot more during the week, and then go ride

my fill in the blanks arrived today

first impressions:

editing wasn't great...
music wasn't great....
but the main thing is the riding is sick...
personally i think it blows Sfuamto outa the water ... yes the editing was good in that video but the riding is way better here..
I was stoked to see the new faces....

Basino: riding was good, some good w2w stuff too...

Leif: very short section... not alot of super tech tricks but he shows his skills on rails... you see him later on the kampus towable rail

Cassette: riding was also very good... lots of good tricks... reed rips it

Tow Jam: amazing riding... looked like a good time...

Clint: sick section... lots of really tech stuff, bigspin here bigspin there, kickflip this kickflip off that or over that...kickflip BV, frontside flip... does a huge varial inside out to close off...

George: also sick... lots of tech stuff too... varial, frontside, backside flip

Integrity: good riding but (personal opinion) the editing was boring... took way to long to get to riding... found my self fastforwarding alot...

Brandon: nothing amazing... some good rail stuff but other than that meh...

the video's biggest flaw is the repitition. between clint and george theres probably 10 bigspins each way. there was also a bs 180 by i think leif that i doubt he would want anywhere but the cutting room floor.
and if i saw grubb do one more fs body varial, i would have chucked something... hard.

but..personal highlight for me was during the credits, im pretty sure danny hampson doing the nicest, smoothest laser flip (skateboard) in the rain. it might have been just a varial heel, though. but still nice
