respect goes way past riding skills bro...
Erich Schmaltz is by far the most respected man in the sport hands down. _________________ <3 mmmm |

| cassette has been behind almost all the revolutionary ideas for wakeskating, concave and bi-levels |

cassette941, not that i dont agree but that is a gay reason, i know some people that rip too but no respects.
i would say toohless tommy, he is like the godfather of showing people wats up! you know? like sfumato came out and that was it, that was the point i really think that people outside of our sport(strappers) started to realize that it wasnt a copy of wakeboarding and that it in its own self is growiing daily. also he has created the designs for the common wakeskate and the uncommon(bi-lev). not only that but he started his own company, has done own thing, and still remains to be a soft spoken(except for karioke at worlds lol) genuwine individual. i look up to him and respect all that he has done. im also not saying he has done it all on his own, but in my mind he is a leader in his own right |

Just a random question.
Do you think cassette would be as big in the wakeskate world as they are today or even here today if they werent partnered with liquid force to begin with?
Just something ive been wondering. |

headhuntermx4, sometimes i wonder if we were seperated @ birth
i agrree with you and rukusrider103, on both of your statements.
i know this is a typical wakeskating.com answer but truthfully, i have mad respect for lemons, not cause i think that hes the best or that he is cool. i know sometimes he comes on here and talks crap, some of the things hes said has made me want to punch him.
but you have to respect a kid who rides as hard as he can, promotes the @#$# out of his sponsor, is genuinly stoked on everything his sponsor has done for him. when ever i heard him say that he wanted to pay his own way to fla... i was just like, "damn this kid is for real" I RESPECT ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO IT THERE WAY, and i dont think that schmalt could have picked a better person to portray his co... in the way that i think he wants it portrayed than ryan lemons.
now ryan, your not that cool so dont let that go to your head

Pirate Love love post now you are talking, but I am confused by some of the posts about people respecting Thomas or Schmalts. Do they know Thomas or Schmalts personaly? How would you know if you respect these people or not ? You have to give respect to get respect. Anyway I will tell you the I have alot of respect for is J.E.
He is always doing something new to push our crew. If it is building a new rail or making it bigger or more tech, or if it is looking for natural land obstacles to jib. The kid always amazes me. I got to hand it to you to,(not to make your head big or anything) but you and J.E. stepped it up this summer when we showed you two the spot you both really helped out big to make that place one of the sickest lines on the lake. Riding this weekend if it is nice out. _________________ Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound

I respect Schmaltz because he personally delivered my skate, and he was completely genuine. In September I sent Erich an e-mail asking if I could meet up with him in Oregon and check out the skates. I figured Redding is close enough to Eagle Point. He responded that he was going down to San Jose and the Orlando show, and he would stop on his way through.
My buddy and I met him at a gas station off I-5. He didn't just sell me the skate and cut. He gave us the total info about the skates (rail shaping, etc...). He even offered to give us a demo at Shasta. We were working that day, so alas the miracle demo could not happen. He hooked me up with the skate, the shirt, the dvd, and some stickers all boxed up. Then he gave my buddy a shirt and some stickers and gave me more stickers. There was no pretenses or any other BS that you can sometimes get when dealing with the local shop rats.
Merry Christmas Erich, and I hope Integrity continues blowing up huge in 2005. |

I have mondo respect for both Thomas and Erich. I know that may be the standard answer on here, but seriously those two guys would honestly be some of few genuine hero's I have.
Thomas has always been on some other sh*t. Anyone with that amount of pure creativity flowing through their veins get my respect, but the absolute uniqueness that Thomas brings to everything he has always done is pretty incredible. When he was riding wakeboards he was always blowing my mind. Just the way he grabs and bones his stuff - the simple things like that - the creativity on the water is amazing. The flow he has on the skate is mind blowing. And the vision he has always had to create a company like Cassette... Well, he'll always have my respect for building those foundations.
You can say so much of the same stuff for Erich. It's amazing what he's done. The thing about Schmaltz that has always blown my mind however - even more so than his huge impact on the sport, which just cannot be undervalued - is his determination and his values. No bullsh*t, no screwing around Erich has always strived to do the right thing and do it the right way under all circumstances. When he's had a vision he's done everything he can possible do to try and see it through. He's 100% genuine in what he does, and he has values that he will always stick by. His company is blowing up, which is awesome to see, and next year it'll be getting even stronger. I think the name itself - Integrity - sums everything up pretty well.
So, they are my reasons right there. _________________

Leif Erkkila,
he is probably the most nicest guy in the industry... always helping me out, he really injoys his job, you can tell when you talk to him... He is really only thinking about how to promote and progress the sport and keeping the idea of just making money as a later priority(sp?) Leif is also one person I trust 100%
Erich Schmaltz,
Erich is a really nice guy, ive emailed him a couple times and like Leif really injoys doing what he does... I was talking to Leif one day and he told me that one of the only guys in the industry he trusts is Erich... I have to say I wasn't surprised when Leif told me that... Erich like the guys at Kampus and Cassette are out there doing there own thing, keeping the big companys on there toes.... Erich is a inovater(sp?) and I think thats
Duane Pacha,
You might not have heard of this man before but he is the guy who is behind Kampus... back in the day Duane and Erich where running Concrete and Mutiny... Duane is really out there to basicly make a great wakeskate and give the big companys a run for there money... he is also a really nice guy and someone I can trust in the industry to give me a straight up answer... |
