My mom dropped off a bunch of old pictures that were cluttering up her house. Starting going through them and came across some from my 8th grade graduation party. The night my deck collection started.
A lot of my family worked and helped build malibu boats, my uncle was employee number three and my dad number thirteen or so. My childhood was built around boating from a young age.
So naturally when I got into wakeskating it was a demo from Grubb where my dad and I were talking to him before his run and be has us watch his gear cause the pointless guys were nowhere to be found to watch it. Anyway after watching him ride I was hooked and this was back in '02/03. I never really knew about cassette till later but I really wanted the hyperlite wake skate.
My mom talked with the malibu team rep and was able to get grubb to send me an old deck and a picture for my graduation. The hyperlite rep heard about this and when he found out it was a used board sent my mom the Scape for free. Had a note that said something about enjoy it and have a great time and leave the grubb board on the wall.
I was stoaked to open the box that had the Scape and another that had the signed picture. Then I was floored when they pulled out the SBG deck that Grubb himself sent me.
I'd later see my board in his "day in the life" section in Snap hanging up in his rafters and find out he rode it during a demo Esnow attended and sent me pictures of.
Kind of cool to know some of my boards history and stuf.
So yea. Also dont mind the dorky kid with braces and a bowl cut

I love that steven, and it is cool to see where that board ended up. That demo with grubb was hugely influential for me. He is one of the raddest dudes ever, was a total ripper that day and was just encouraging for wakeskating.

Just got the 2014 Nick Taylor. My 2013 is dying so I through some lock ins on it. It will be nice to ride the same shape when locking in for once.

miller, that's so sick man, that's one of my favorite skates/graphics ever for some reason just simple but looks good, it was kind of a shame my buddy bought it when they first released and it came defected with a good size crack in it and too get a new one they told him to "destroy" it so he sawed it in half. They ended up sending the transportation graphic. But luckily we were able to still use it as a seat on the winch, but that's awesome to see that board!
