I want to hear some real opinions...

He jokes about being washed up and stuff, but really him, Danny, and George are the only "wakeskate veterans" still trying to keep up. I can watch Aaron Reed all day. I would love to see a new edit from him.

I don't know how long george has been pro, but that guy was killing it on a kampus and was a little bit more established while nick was coming up. Was george's backside flip cover from 04 or 05? I can't even remember anymore.

Guys like aaron, danny, scott, brian...i think they're a little different because they're the last of the OGs and original pioneers of "modern" wakeskating (which has evolved). All of those dudes were in asterisk. Nick went to the premiere and spilled beer on thomas' projector or something like that. Wink

nick is bad to the bone and has contributed so much...but that to me, is the difference. But it didn't take nick long to work his way up.

How much farther do you think wakeskating is going to go, in relation to flip variations on a skateboard? I feel like there is only so much that a 12 pound board can flip, do you think we are getting close to plateauing on what flip tricks can be done?

It just seems like everyone and their dog can do bigspins and kickflips nowadays...

Every flip trick has the capability to be done, but I think it will be more of a "will this look good to people watching me" that will down play some tricks. Like Mitch said, a 720 flip can be done but does it look better than a slow spun, back foot caught landed boots 360 flip? Not to me.

I think as tricks progress and the majority of top riders start landing the same consistently ( how many riders are tossing front big heels on the regular ?) it will come down to creativity and style in where and how those tricks are done.

Same as a lot of Boardsports after some time. Look at the Berrics and the battle commander or recruit videos. Those are all shot in te same park but over time the riders have had to get more creative with space and obstacles to keep it fresh and different.

It's slowly been happening with Retention. Listen to the comments from the riders, they all said they love how Ben changes it up every year adding something new. That grass gap this year made them to back to basic flat water tricks. No drop or rail just flatwater.

You can call it kooky, but when Thomas and the Cassette guys had that tow behind pink box for boat riding I had ideas of Blunt stalls on that thing for re entry wake tricks with a set of lock in fins.

I think as long as creative people are wakeskating we will see fresh and new stuff with style becoming a major factor in keepin it lookin good/ different.

johnnyk, We've been having that conversation since the early days (2003 or so?). Every time someone says "this will never be done on a wakeskate" someone goes out and does it.

Someone said Matt Manzari was getting close to varial flip under flip something or another so there is always that realm of flip tricks to be explored.

I still want to see a heelside wake to wake front shuv caught to back big. I can play it over and over in m mind and it looks sick. Or boosted on an inside out hit behind a ski. Plenty of variations still to be done

Look at Kyle Walton and his foot plant 180s. Wait till someone figures out how to add a shuv with that off the back foot.

Hardflip backside 180 would be a swee trick just asking for different guys to hit it with there own style.

Not even close to plateauing. To me the switch aspec really has much more importance. Switch tre flip will be sick. Switch everything. Switch shows such mastery and control. I'm excited to see nicks winning run for that reason!

Didn't matt do some other underflip thing a long time ago? I cam't remember if it's in a vid, like the gatorboards team vid. Anyway, i don't know if this is thesame move or not. It's been awhile.

Also, people are really pushing the kickflip/rail maneuvers. There is more potential in that direction also, but i'm sire for some, it will swing right back to style over tech.
