As you guys know I'm the newbie, and I just realized the board I got off ebay, the guy doesn't have the fins for it. So should I buy some replacement fins or should I just go without? Thanks! |

At the cable, they will most likely make you take them off. _________________ Peace through firepower!! |

You're going to be way better off learning how to ride your skate without fins. The edges of your board (sometimes confusingly referred to as 'the rails') are going to be what you use to control where you go, instead of just leaning against the rope & letting a fin control you...
Some of the best advice I got for wakeskating was to slow down on trying to learn pop shuvs, ollie 180s, & bigspins, and first get comfortable just riding my wakeskate. Carving around, cruising, doing lipslides & all that will help you understand how your wakeskate interacts to the water & it will make learning everything else down the line much easier.
Being comfortable on your skate is also a crucial element of having good style

Thanks! Also, can someone explain to me what lip tricks are? Like what are lipslides and stuff? |

I guess you could say lip tricks are a way of skating the wake like you would skate a rail or a ledge...
Take a look at Aaron Reed's video section from Cassette Wakeskate's 2003 video "Sfumato". It's a wakeskate classic loaded with lip tricks, since they were way more popular in videos back then.
