OK I'll post my thoughts on the matter (not that anyone cares what I have to say). Seems like an odd move given the amount of support they have gotten from this site. I'm assuming the goal is to attract users (from this site) and gain more sponsors. I could be wrong though....

Haha, the last thing we are expecting to gain from our forums is sponsors. Is that even a serious thought? It's just a new feature on our site to get more people talking about wakeskating.

Lollar, is it really that hard for you to type in a box? Nobody is making you join... haha.

I'm a member of probably 4 photography forums, 3 volkswagen forums and a handful of skateboarding forums, what's wrong with having more than one wakeskate forum? Everyone here knows I'll always rep wakeskating.com, come on now. Let's put the .com babies to rest, we don't need anyone here getting cranky.

Obviously everyone isn't going to migrate from here over to those forums.

All Wordpress based websites come with the ability to allow people to register in order to create a user database . Most magazine websites (like Transworld) do this to get better reader statistics or to offer things they don't to nonmembers. I do not think WSM is trying to undercut wakeskating.com or steal our members in anyway. The forum seems pretty dead though and to me that looks worse than not having a forum at all.

On a side note I registered electricsnow, nick, Lollar, And Drew, and a few other usernames over there. Starting bid $5.00.

Clicking around and posting on Wakeskating.com supports Ed Harmon of Wakeboarder.com..

Using the Wakeskate Mags forums supports Wakeskaters and a Wakeskate Magazine?

midwestshred, what is that even supposed to mean? I see there's a lot of nostalgia on here with the forums being dead and all (sarcasm-i finally get it!), but this site probably wouldn't be around anymore had ed not bought it from dave. And as you probably are not aware (how many people posting on this thread were wakeskating in ~2001?), dave created wakeskating.com in the early 00s (before that, if you wanted to talk about wakeskating, you went to the wakeskate forums at wakeboarder.com, which was started by dave's friend pat), and it's the longest running wakeskating web forum. Wakeskate.com has been inactive for a really long time (but i respect the heck out of the guy who started that one), and kyle conrad sold wakelounge.com to ed also. Not to mention all of the tiny, sometimes secret forums that people started and eventually fizzled out.

I've never acted like we're king shizzle here. I've always recognized our place, and I'm not saying this site is a godsend and we're owed anything and rabble rabble rabble, but there's a lot of history on here and it could have been wiped out a long time ago. I'm personally thankful ed bought it. Clearly you don't know him, but he's a really good guy, and i'm sure if you spoke to some people in the wake scene in texas, they'd have really good things to say also...maybe in addition to the fact that he's always been good about trying to support some of the smaller wakeskate brands by selling them at the boardstop. (gasp! Another site that's his! He's like the bob archer of the wake web game!)

Finally midwestshred, i've already talked to ed about that logo. But if that's your best reason to delegitimize the site, then go for it.

And the last time i checked, none of the wake forums are exploding with topics, be it wakeworld, or the wakeskating group on facebook.

All the wake forums slow down in the winter. I've been waiting for a response in the General forum on wb.com for 3 days now...

I have no problems supporting Ed. I come here for a wakeskate forum because it's the best at that, and I go to WSM for videos and magazine related content because it's the best at that.

If this forum starts to become dead and neglected I will gladly move on to another one, so I am happy alternatives are showing up. Thankfully we have great people here like esnow who continue to keep this forum fresh. Without her I am pretty confident this forum would have died after the acquisition by Ed.

Steven unfortunately not. But I've archived all her museum pictures in to a zip file so you can upload them and call them your own.
