Here's an interview from alliance in 2003 with thomas just after cassette became independent after lf's financial woes. I dont know how many people have actually been in wakeskating while cassette was in business, or are familiar with thomas and how he operated. These days theres talk about thomas, but to some it might just be a name and some stories

So here's but a small look at thomas, cassette wakeskates, and the newly formed linear distribution (home of cassette wakeskates, the heart throb club and lyuno additions). It's all just to show what his vision was like back in 2003 and how he wanted to run his brand and support new riders.

It's all good! The winch is funny because for an entire summer, people wondered what could pull you on the water for 100.00. That was pretty much a frame price, but its cool to have these bits of history.

Thanks for posting that electricsnow... I'm still blown away by the number of direct (linear?) visible ties from Thomas' work to where wakeskating is now, and the ways that his vision define wakeskating ten years later Cool

It's all good nick! I like having these reminders...it always makes me thankful that wakeskating grew up in the hands it did...i think it would be drastically different and less hopeful. I feel like between the sponge and his cassette, and the way he was able to ride his design, he fast-forwarded wakeskating by years...it's unbelievable.

SkiDockAustin, I'm pretty sure I lost 20% of my mental function for like a month when I first got Sfumato. Mind blowing ridiculous progression. I still pop in the DVD every now and then. That video was crazy. Thomas was and is wakeskating.

I saw this thread this morning when I got to work at 8:30 am, it's now 5 pm Texas time and I have been motivated to do nothing but dig through every box in the shop finding old DVD gem's and gettin my throwback on. So far found "Fill in the Blanks" "Money Cant Buy" "Such is life" and "Linear Perspective"...... as you can imagine, nothing has gotten done in the shop today other than I worked the hell out of the DVD player.

Thanks for the reminders, keeps us grateful....

There are so many great old vids! I was thinking about how new wakeskaters need to go back and buy some of the old volume vids (including money can't buy). Issue one has that interview with thomas and drew probably filmed his best video section ever; issue 2 has aaron reed's out of control amazing pro spotlight, throwing flip tricks on his bi level most probably have never sewn him do before! Plus nick's 360 flip is in that video--i believe that one and his tre flip in such is life were the first ones to be shown in a video. That's pretty historical, because the 360 flip seemed like one of those dream tricks in wakeskating. To look at old forum discussions about wakeskating in the early 2000s, that was a major move to anticipate.

Reed's W2W kick flip seemed unimaginable. Remember Drew Daniellos back big W2W? That seemed almost CGI.

electricsnow, The 360 flip from Volume 2 was filmed on Lake Georgia, (where Byerly was living at the time) a few hours after the first one was landed, since we weren't filming when it happened... The ones from Such Is Life were filmed about a week later when I got back home to AMI Very Happy Those were some good days in wakeskating...

We had an old-wakeskate-movie-marathon over at the Lake Pickett house a few days ago, it was awesome. I think I have every wakeskate DVD made except for Asterisk 2 & I lost my copy of Money Can't Buy, but we watched a heavy dosage of wakeskating on a timeline that really showed how far the mindset & board control have come Crazy Eyes

I <3 Wakeskating.
