I dont own a wakeskate anymore and am looking at buying one..... I'ts a bit redic though..... Honestly I'm not seeing where these guys are getting off charging this much.
I have a shaper that I have a pretty good relationship with. If anyone knows anything about the art of surfboard shaping you understand that there is much more involvement in the creation of a surboard then a wakeskate. Anyway I find it crazy that i have have a 5'11 board shaped for me for 540 bucks with 5 fin boxes and color.... Hand glassed, hand painted, hand shaped.........
But wakeskate company's are going to charge close to that and then add a charge for fins and shipping? also this fedex huge shipping rate fee that everyone is rocking is a bit gnarly to say the least. Seriously? Sounds like a great way to destroy a sport.

I think it depends where you look. Obscura has held concave prices steady at 200.00, which is what you'd pay for a concave in 2002/2003. For 50.00 more, you can get a water monster. It's not like everyone is out of range here. If you really want to step it up, you can get a remote or integrity.
If nothing else, buy a cassette flat from the house dot com and be done with it.

WM decks and Remotes are worth every penny. I used to break like two LF decks a year. I cant even ding my remote, and my WM deck is just as solid, I just don't slide it.

i do agree that prices deserve to be higher with the better materials going into these boards.
the sad thing is how the companies that could afford the money(maybe not the time tho) for better boards like hyperlite, still dont do it. i think i paid around 250 for my cassette concave back in the day, lasted me like 4 seasons, rails, w2w, drops. then a hyperlite urso didnt even make it a season for me. im ok with the companies charging more as long as they stick around the 375 they're at. any more increase is going to be out of hand. as is= boards

Those obscura impulses shouldn't be worth 100$ let alone 200$. Just cough up the 250$ for a water monster. You won't be dissapointed.

Actually you guys can't complain.
If you wanna buy a wakeskate in Germany you gotta pay at least 300€ thats what i bought my liquid force mod for in 2010 thats $371.
Now i bought a new Remote Skate, i was glad to get one after emailing like 100000 boardstores all over Germany. But i paid $457 after all. I wasn't even able to get a WM skate.
But i still think it was worth every penny for me
I'm a little worried right now, cause there are some little fissures on the edges, getting bigger every time i ride, i will watch this.

I remember back in the day you could buy a cassette or make your own board. Cassettes were expensive so we rode an arsenal of homemade decks and never thought twice about it. In hindsight I should have just complained online

ive been riding the same wood deck for about 4-5 years.... and it was free.... wont see my buying a $300 deck... ever.... companies are trying to make money, or just make ends meet.... so they can live the dream. Its understandable. Cost of living is up...for everyone.... gas is finally dropping a bit.... but anyway... I remember buying my first LF flat deck for like $150 in 2004.... but it did break in a few weeks...
in other news...

It's not companies trying to live the dream, so much as it's the people behind them who are trying to help good riders actually make a living off of wakeskating.

You can pick up a 2011 byerly revival 39 for way less than $175 brand new. For the money it's hard to beat it. It's not an integrity sure, but it's way better than most skates.

$450 not $540. Remotewakeskates. But it doesn't matter every wakeskate that's not sold directly by the companies is so much more expansive in europe. But that's the way it is, it's the not the fault of any company, it's the eurpean protective duties...
