I was just curious if any of you guys still use peer-to-peer networks. I used to use them quite often until someone very close to me got a subpoena from the RIAA for downloading music. Since then, I deleted them all from my computer and haven't really kept up with the legality issues of downloading music via peer-to-peer networks.
I am in no way saying that it is ok to download music, nor am I encouraging the use of peer-to-peer networks. I am only asking you guys to satisfy my own curiosity because I have been out of the loop for so long since my friend got the subpoena. |

obviously i do, blubster, but I have an older version w/o the spyware, you can't get subpoenaed for downloading, only allowing uploads, some lawyer argued downloading over peer to peer is protected under our 1st amendmant rights, and won, so how i solve that is i dump all my downloaded songs to a hidden file when I break 100 _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

in Canada, supposed "internet piracy" went to federal court. The end result was that they likend downloading music to photocopying pages out of a library book. They can no longer take action against downloaders. So i have a pretty nice collection. I use Limewire. Its great. no spyware or garbage downloads that you dont want, and all of the songs are full and un-corrupted. There is nothing worse than waiting 5 minutes or whatever, only to find out that the song you just d/l is nothing but screaching noises and clicking sounds. (and im not talking about accidently downloading a country song) Limewire has none of that corrupted file BS. |

Matt french, your post is cracking me up...the part about the screeching and clicking noises not being country music...hhaahahaha.
I personally don't download because my computer and dial up connection is shite, but any songs i want I have my sister download in england because they love that stuff over there...hahaha...wait, what does that even mean?? _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I only very very very rarely do now. When I do, I VPN into my University so I download from their IP. My school tries hard to protect our anonymity (Road Runner could give a rats ass).
Actually, I download legal music now over iTunes way more than I do it through other sources. I only download music over p2p when I want something iTunes doesn't have. I have no problem with paying money for things I want: I just want to it to be as easy and fast as possible. iTunes has made great strides in making legal music easily attainable. |

i use limewire sometimes but the music selection sucks
itunes combined with mytunes redux and a college network is a good combo. _________________ JMU |

i agree with xboard32x, i try and get the actual artist's work when i can. i have a hacked/supercharged version of Kazaalite K++ and mainly use it for stuff thats really hard to get on cd and too preview songs to see if the whole cd is worth buying. _________________ R.I.P. Torrents are only good for games and shizzle bro, they're way too slow to be downloading songs off of. |
