Its funny, that when us wakeskaters talk tricks, we bear in mind the fact that we always have been copying skateboarding. But when we talk boards, we seem to forget what exactly our sport is imitating, and sometimes sound like a bunch of wakeboarders quarreling. The problem is that our thought process is too much like a wakeboarder's. We get caught up in all of these (somewhat) pointless notions about brands, concaves, rockers, manufacturers, riders . . . etc. And at the end of the day, all we are doing with this piece of wood is flipping it around under our feet. We sit here day after day arguing how long this deck is going to last, when (for the most of us) we probably don't have 1/10th the arsenal of tricks that guys like Ben and Hooker have to actually damage the boards. They made the boards the way they did because they are the riders on this certain wakeskate company. If you want to pay less, then do so, and don't hate on remote for costing more.

So, my point would be, to keep in mind the sport we are copying. Decks break. Always.

There are some great points being thrown out for sure. Ultimately, why bi#*ch and moan when it's YOUR choice on what to buy. I'm just excited as heck that wakesakting is finally going in the right direction. Events like Retention and Spine N Swine and the backyards of guys like Lemons and Pastura are pushing the sport like never before. Its hard to not want to support this movement. By spending your dough on a WM, Remote, or Integ/Mutiny you are giving back and supporting the sport you love.

Silas had a great article that I read in the last copy of Alliance that sheds light on this subject and it was just posted on the homepage of their site as well. Check it when you have a chance http://www.remotewakeskates.com/

To share my excitement of these decks I'm going to throw in a free pair of the Remote edition "Status" Anarchy shades to the first 5 people who order these decks from my shop.

Our sport is going in the right direction gang. So smile, soak it up, and enjoy this progression!

Yea Texas I thought the same thing about my Horan deck. In the right light on the tail you can see drips of sealant so I know its on there but it sure looks like a really thing coat of it. Its cold in Michigan and haven't ridden it yet but I might re-seal it in the spring, but for that kind of money I shouldn't have to do that.

yea ive taken my deck out on the water like 6 times and just got another remote and my first roadkill board wasnt sealed at all. the new one you can see and feel the sealant and my first one is starting to soak up water at the nose and tail so i had to put marine epoxy on it to stop the water from messing the wood up Sad

TexasBlazed, On my Yan terminator the side walls were about half sealed. I put a layer of outdoor urethane on the exposed wood as well as some epoxy on the nose and tail before it hit the water. It's been solid as a rock so far. (3 plus months)
It's already lasted longer than any other wood deck I've had though.

i dunno if its like they were in a rush to shipp them all out and didnt coat the wood that well. but you could literally see like little sections of the wood would puff out when its it the water for awhile. kinda shiznackle

I just had the chance to ride the Yan Terminator and it was amazing. I really liked how the concave came more towards the center of the board giving me more board control and the taller kicktails gave it lots of pop. The new base made it super quick - not as quick as an Integrity but lots quicker than my wood skate.

Loved it.

I have a Silas Trix deck from a few runs ago and it is still holding up strong after almost two years of trying to destroy it. I worked at a cable while I had it so needless to say it was ridden, along with winching on it at least once or twice a week hitting rocks and concrete. The graphic came off at the end of last year but I am not one to care much about those things. Boards wear out. shizzle happens. A wakeskate is constructed to be ridden, not looked at. Just my toosense.
