I'm gonna start this by saying that I don't like how some wakeskate companies are making boards that have a round nose and tail like a skateboard instead of more of a square cut. The square cut sets us apart board wise don't you think.

splitphire, I think the difference between concrete and water is what sets us apart.

I could never see it as wakeskating vs. skateboarding, I see wakeskating as the watery adaptation of the joy/satisfaction that skateboarding brings...

nick T, your a funny guy. Yeah water and concrete is definitely the most obvious difference. I actually got into skateboarding bc of wakeskating. My friend is a great skateboarder, and he got me into it. I got him into wakeskating. I think there are many differences as I can do tricks on a wakeskate that he can't do, but he kills them on a skateboard. Wakeskating just gives me the feeling that even though I'm not an amazing skateboarder a kid that has been skateboarding his whole life just cant get out on the water and school me.

I do both and wakeskating is 1,000,000 times more fun IMO. Especially since i live in the south, and it's hot as a motherfu**er down here pretty much year round.

I actually wondering whether or not to pick up a skateboard. If it will improve my skills on the water i will get one but if not then I won't.

SLWK, lol at straight answer.

POPTART, I get that, I only have the weekends to ride. I just want to progressing a little forward now since I have my ollie down. And I see a lot of wakeskaters skateboarding, If it's gpoing to help me on the water then i'm heading to a shop later and picking up one.

fact: there is a certain amount of crossover between all board sports that will help anyone grasp the basics. obviously every sport will take a bit of time and practice and pain to get really comfortable. but yes, skateboarding definitely helps tons with wakeskating. especially since you can skate virtually anywhere and dont need a winch or driver of anything but your own leg to push you. plus it helps bring a creative side to wakeskating.
