Just cracked open my 2010 Impulse and am looking to move away from wood skates. I have narrowed my next choice down to the LF Mod, Byerly Revival, or Hyperlite Model G. If you had to pick one out of these three, which would it be and why? Or would you move on to a bi-level like the SST or Zariel? Keep in mind I really liked the 2010 Impulse. Thanks!

etan16, The 2011 Mod is basically the same shape as the impulse. That might be your best bet.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Do you have any idea when the 2012 lines will be released?

etan16, Although the mod is "basically the same shape" as the impulse, the board feels very different on the water. The composite construction doesn't have that same lively feeling of a wood skate that I love. Depends on what your doing though, I would hit rails with the mod all day long it won't break. But for a butter water sesh I prefer wood. Try the sst is fun it's got substance under your feet and has a spring to the ollie, but some will argue it will break..well all boards can break.

i rode some sort of foam topped liquid force skate (might've been a mod or the signal or whatever else it is) not long ago on holiday when i didn't have mine...also tried an old 42 impulse and i thought the composite thing was much better
that's coming from someone who prefers wood and grip tape too

my opinion is biased but i loved the Sst great amount of weight and good skate feel with the kicktails, however it did break going w2w after the 100th time,

Even though u only have 4 posts, you joined in 06 Nice!

The Model G is a huge skate and is deff a wake to wake focused piece. Little funky concave, extra steep right at the tail and tip....but some love it.

The Mod is balanced well and has the least amount of concave of the 3. Easy to get comfortable on and more dialed for the technical side of our sport.

The Revival has a ton of concave all around and is a nice mix of w2w and tech. Hard to find a comfy spot for your front foot to some people. Solid choice if you like the concave.

If you can hop on an sst or zariel deff do so. I agree with southpaw that the composite decks we are talking about here dont have the same snap as the wood offerings but do last allot longer.

Good luck buddy. Always fun getting a new deck!
