HANDLE
make sure your handle is right up front (of your lead hip)
and when you pop bring you back foot twards the handle
lots of practice and consistency (in place off the wake speed remove your variables)
they always feel different at different places but flats is where to start

supermanotorious, tramp is a good foundation , but dosent give you a true feeling of what the board feels like during the initiation of the shuv
like i said , get that handle right up front over the nose of the board and kick that back foot twards the handle , it will do the rest
it took me FOREVER to get shuvs , i had to try like 5 before i got one saturday winching
just try a bunch
remember bailing is no prob , just keep going
but rly the handle is the first place to start, making sure you set up the same way
foot placement gives you different results but isnt as important

pull out about 2 or 3 ft from the wake , coun 1,2, then pop on 3. stay over your toesand do what pop tart said
and try not to edgeout to far, i did that alot when i was learning them and id land em all the time but then got yanked and fell.

Dont be leaning back when you land on it. keep your weight over the board the whole trick

supermanotorious, hey bro, when you first start doing shov its. do not try to do them big and lofty.
your first goal is to get the rotation down every time, so dont worry on how big it is.
first, your back foot is doing a scooping motion sending the tail of the board to your backside. While, your front foot is there to guide it. When you do the shov it watch the board come around, also keeping your front foot over the board like inches away as soon as it comes around stomp it and ride clean away. the same is opposite for front side shuvs. **Foot placement is big! When you start getting them down than you can make it more stylish, or doing them late. * Handle placement is ideal by your hip but when you get them on lock, you will be able to do them with ease wherever you hold the handle.
(your back foot should be going behind you and front foot should go slightly in front)
360 pop shovits are the same but move your front foot little bit further down the board than a normal shovit, and a little bit more emphasis on the back foot.
just be positive, and you will be doing these like nothing! good luck and happy riding.
i hope this helps

i'm still coming up short, it seems the biggest problem is leaning too far back whether off a rail or flatwater, I will post some video soon but again I think it's me leaning back, I cant for the life of me figure out how to keep my weight centered

I am starting to get my shuvs consistent. I found that I was trying to hard at first. After I carve out slow, I setup and look down at the board pull a little slack on the rope kick it! I found that having some slack on the rope helped because it seemed that the rope was pulling me over the board after I would kick it and I could never get my feet on the board right. I hope to get them more consistent soon.

I'm getting very close, we figured out a serious problem last night, my first attempts are super proper, I barely flick the board and it comes around like it should but my feet placement is incorrect, that being said I notice most experienced guys never land their first shuv attempt of the day it usually takes a warm up run or two, so when I try again I clearly get frustrated and begin to go for huge pop before the shuv, so when we noticed that and I made a concious effort to keep the flick simple I started getting real close but the sun was down, it was dark, and we had to call it

supermanotorious, try and keep them little, you can huck them later
U still on that hyperlite?
i think about moving my back foot to my lead hand on the handle
keep your feet nice and even ( the further apart the slower the rotation, the more tail and center you place them the more pop and speed it gets)
so to start keep your feet nice and even and try just barely getting the board out of the water
cut out, get flat
bring your back foot to the lead handle ( i like to let go and hold the rope with my lead hand at the same time i get flat)
the follow it around and stomp it down
here is a few pics of what im talking about bringing you foot forward
(not the greatest shuv but the cam placement really helps show what your feet should do)
I know i landed this one with my feet rly close < its the first shuv i had i could grab a few frams easy from the helmet cam(also feet close together might look bad but keeps you from landing one foot on one foot off)
