atleast he admitted to being a stuck up hipster half way thru the interview
god forbid they enjoy breaking ground
and isnt 99% of the nofx mentality just that?
doing what they do where they shouldnt?
instead of continuing to go the post gengrafied ghettos of east coast citys to play shows in their comfort zone?
is that what punk is?
just liking to be with their own kind in crummy places that the gangbangers left for better drug territory's
i like the music but sometimes i cant wrap my brain around the pretentious audience and band members
is conformity a form of anti-conformity
but i think his biggest blow was to admit that money talks = they sold out
which im pretty sure is not punk rock
and jam bands dont need to write when they can communicate with eachother through mastering their instruments --
they dont accidentally play the wrong powerchords _________________ https://vimeo.com/moontowerco |

Huge tool/loser. I'd love to see nofx try to hang with gov't mule or trey. Not sure who is there this year, but jam bands do this thing called improvisational music that feeds on the original. Like to slap that guy. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. I said take me to the sea and let my mother bury me." Buck-0-Nine |

POPTART, I cant imagine how difficult of a task it would be to jam for 3 hours and "blow peoples mind's" that are all tripping on acid. Playing a festival that approached you and offered you a ridiculous about of money to play what you want the way you want is far from selling out. Bonnaroo obviously didn't dictate what they said or played, lol. They just got a huge check to party. And make fun of what they were doing.

I missed it? I definitely got that the guy doesn't hold up to any real musicians. And is close minded. Punk rock ended long ago. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. I said take me to the sea and let my mother bury me." Buck-0-Nine |

brassmonkey, 1st have you ever tripped?
if yes then you would know how easy it is to see through things that dont come directly from within
if no then you wouldnt know how these particular musicians can open up their souls through their instruments and share their life experiences with you
and if you cant imagine it how hard it is to play 3 hrs and blow minds, go buy a drum set and try and keep up with STS9's drummer for 8mins , then post the vid for me to prove your point that its really easy (if you dont know about them or his drumming abilitys to sound like a computer click here)
i dont trip anymore but when i did i tried it with everything
music
hikes
tv
and what i can tell you is that while tripping you can clearly see where people are coming from, their true nature/energy/ direction without them even having to speak
and people with negative vibes stand out
so yeah it might be easy for you to say play for 3 hrs and blow minds
but coming from the soul, spreading your stoak is something you cant fake
and thats a part of what the trippers go for, good times with good people
leave the music debate for the sober people , acid is a totally different subject
2nd. going to some place where you hate everyone and everything around you just to get a check is the definition of selling out
think about it
they sat there after they got the phone call and said...dude i hate hippys
i hate hippy festivals
..but it is a ton of cash(or hairsparay and hair dye)
ok lets do it
can you tell me of any other show they played for less? that they were dictated what they could say and play?
im not a huge fan or follower but i dont have to be to know that these guys dont roll like that (or didnt start out thinking that way)
and to point out what mojo said they couldnt even touch treys playing abilitys
or musical theorems
not that they cant play
bc imo playing music is about expressing yourself and Nofx has never lacked in that ability
but no reason to go pickup a check and be a d!ck

Spirit of suwanee nov. 10-13. Who else is goin? Trey, Karl denson, funky meters, soulive, galactic, etc etc might be chilly, but great place to winch. Someone bring one, preferably aluminum. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. I said take me to the sea and let my mother bury me." Buck-0-Nine |

POPTART, Yes
I wasn't trying to make this a debate. I have a very well rounded taste in music from early 1900's jazz, reggae, (intelligent) hip hop, punk rock, folk, etc.. I thought some of you would appreciate the humor. Fat Mike is an assshole, and very intelligent and funny. Not to mention a legend and someone that has created Fat Wreck Chords which has done endless shiit for tons of bands. Get over it, jeepers. And no, I don't even have NOFX on my Ipod. I do on my Itunes however. _________________ The promise of heaven out of reach.

Don't wanna chill, don't wanna sit
Don't wanna hear no hippy shizzle
Don't tell me I've closed my mind
Don't wanna groove, don't wanna dig
Don't wanna spend the day naked
Don't like my music country fried
He's got a tye dyed Rancid shirt
He wears his birkenstocks to work
Is he a jerk? No! Just confused
Jeff don't wear regular shoes
Fat Mike I gotta let you know
It's not the tunes, it's their live show
And all the people you get to meet
Plenty of good vibes and decent drugs
Stinky people give you hugs
Walk around in your bare feet
He's got a tye dyed Rancid shirt
He wears his birkenstocks to work
Is he a jerk? No! Just confused
Jeff don't wear regular shoes
Shoes...
