All you religious guys, pray for all of the people north and south along the Mississippi. This is a hundred year flood, and unfortunately it hasn't gotten the attention it deserves in the wake of the death of Bin Laden. Here are a couple of photos and the NY Times index of articles to provide a little bit of background. There are now rumors of a planned LSU voluntary evacuation, but hopefully those are just rumors. Photos are from www.bayoubucks.com, a local hunting message board.

This photo was taken 500 yards down the road from my house. For perspective, I put a photo of the levee from a few months ago after it...same spot.

This guy is American. He dug a moat with a trackhoe all the way around his property, then used to dirt to build up a levee system. Fast forward to :50 seconds. Devalls Bluff, White River, Arkansas.
