I am thinking about starting a wakeboarding/wakeskating or watersports club in my high school, and im not totally sure how to set it up. does any one have one in there school? if so, how does it work? what kind of events do you do? in general, what goes on?

Here are my ideas:

-Requirements: able to ride at least a little

-Go out ridingon alternating people's boat everyweekend, or everyother weekend

-Sponser some sort of demo day and /or a competion with another school

-Have ALOT of fundraisers, and within a couple of years actually get a used boat or jetski just for the club

-Liability forms? if someone gets hurt i dont fell like etting sued and im sure neither does the school. Could i use the same one that you have to sign toplay a sport slightly modified?

Any feedback would be great because i have to pitch this idea to the school within the month then see if i have any interest before the end of the year.

I had the same idea. There aren't enough people at my school to do a wake-sports club so I'll probably expand it to something like a boardsports club. I'd also have it open to anyone who wants to come, better turn-out that way. I think it would be easier just to kind of do a bi-weekly meeting to talk about what everyone is working on, watch videos, etc. Then on the weekends just all hang out and ride without school consent. It would be easier that way due to no liability forms or anything. Originally i wanted to maybe to an O-Dub trip, but it's probalby too late in the year to start raising money and getting liability stuff together. The only thing i have yet to do is find one of the teachers at school to represent us. Keep posted on how everything goes for you.

i am the head of the mountain/road bike club at my college, and its a lot of work. just really make sure you got enough going on that keeps people interested and wanting to come back.

yeah, i think it will be esier to do it at a high school.

to make sure there is enough interest im making it a water sports club and not a just wakeskating or wakeboarding, so it wil include skiers (cough fags coug) and kneeboards (even gayer) but i have to make sure i have enugh interest since i go to a small school

i think there would be much less kneeboarders and skiers in a high school than wakeboarders... I cannot think of a single person who waterskis or kneeboards at my high school

That idea has it's merits. I could probably talk to my principal about starting one up. That would be sweet.. Thanks for the idea Head

Edit: Oh shizzle I probably would have to find a teacher who does it. Oh well, it'll be all right. I know a couple of people who do watersports, and I could persuade a lot more, so it's all good.

1337wKsk8r, sry man i live in michigan, it might be hard to get a comp between us, there are a lot of lakes around me so, yeah there are a decient number of people who ski, kneeboard, i dont know, but im lookin for all the interest i can get.

there is a senior who wakeboards who im freinds with at my school, he is also the star varsity quaterback, so if i get him in he'll spread the word and more people will probably come so i think im set
