i'm not trying to take anything away from Nicks skills... believe me he just has straight skills and agility.
But, the amount of spray that comes off a board is a good gauge of drag and how it functions on the surface.
also landing center on the board or just over center towards the nose can cause thing to land hard...
just landing midway between tail and center is the money spot with certain rockers and is the case with our rocker. |

Schmaltz, I recently switched to a 38' TNT about half a year ago from an Obscura. I love everything about the TNT behind ski, it has a comfortable length, its responsive, releases well, pops nice, and is predictable.. Its nice behind boat and cable too..
But, when I winch It feels like my landings are so much harder than when I rode my obscura or previous wood boards. I think this may be because of the length as it is quite a bit shorter... Any Ideas?!?
Thanks |

It does feel like integ landings are definitely harder IMHO. I hit the mcdonalds gap on that lemons i had and then hit it on an Obscura Hampson, night and day difference with the softness of the landing the Obscura. Granted the Obscura is heavier, has more surface area and plane's and tracks completely different on the water.
I would also like to note that the obscura I had lasted a whopping 2 months, then literally shredded 2 pieces. The lemons is still in one peice and just recently sold it to a happy new owner. Haha
I'll put up with a harder landing knowing my board will last for a long time. |

Yo David i think it has to do with the composite hard plastic material not absorbing the impact as much as wood does. The impact is displaced to the riders legs and body instead being absorbed into the board. The rocker probably does play a role but im not sure exactly how it would nor can I make sense of it.
When you drop a wood board on the concrete it doesn't recoil (bounce back) on impact as much as if you drop ur integ on concrete. (Hypothetically)
Sound waves bounce off plexiglass better than they would wood walls, (i think?)
Thats another correlated concept that is probably applicable. |
