these guys are no spring chickens, and they all have been muffed up badly by the wakeskate. so from experience, i can say that progression isn't as important as having fun......as you get older it seems there is more at stake, your bones are weaker, your joints are worn, and your time becomes more preciosa.....and to a wakeskater nada es mas preciosa than the ability to do werk on the wake. |
Loved the summary my man, always a positive vibe flowing from the Raven for sure.....I'm curious as to how I'm going to skate this summer now that I turned the corner to the the big 3.....0. Regardless, I'm going to be having a blast waterdancing in the wisco disco
Anytime I can see GD shred I am a happy man, HE RIPS and I always enjoy seeing Byerly still throwing down and loving being on the water as always. |

Damn, this is why wakeskating will get no where! Everyone just assumes shizzle and starts a bunch of drama. I put Scott Byerly next to Thomas Horrel. They are founding fathers in this industry. Remember your roots.

I get pretty nostalgic with hyperlite making wood wakeskates now. It makes me even more psyched to have an old grubb from 02. the days!
Raven is right about getting old and riding! (but the bottom line is people like us or people like byerly will always ride.) And it's easy to talk on a message board and say someone's washed up and they need to move aside, blah blah blah, but if you're in the position of receiving that critique, especially if you (the recipient) feel otherwise, it's quite different. Not to mention this is a web video from a little trip. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

electricsnow, well said....
there are alot of kids out there throwing bangers all day...but ill be honest. i would rather watch byerly, aaron reed and danny ride any day over anyone. u never see them guys throwing 3 flips and whatnot. but they are the OG of wakeskating. the best style of any riders out there. no one is ever washed up in this sport in my eyes. thats why i love it, i feel like even if your 50 years old and u can get up on a skate and enjoy it its the best thing out there.
to much criticism is why the world is like it is. to many people thinking they are better than everyone else. always trying to one up someone. lets not forget who pioneered this sport...the guys in that video... mad respect to them "old guys" they still rip |

I agree with a lot of what you said coricluster. And I guess to add on my behalf, people see riding going a certain way which is fine. but change doesn't happen overnight. And this isn't to say that things are always fair in the industry, but riders can also get disposed of if they aren't viewed as an asset to a company. right now people like BT are viewed as an asset to the byerly brand. there's nothing more to sweat. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| byerly had the sickest skate part in hyperlites all or nothing, i remember watching his part over and over again, he may not be on the frontier of wakeskating, but he's getting it out there, and taking it in a right direction, and in my opinion spreading the sport like a champ. |

electricsnow, Yellow foam top got me so pumped. I remember thinking grubb must be cheating and is attached. A three of a kicker OMG!!!!
I'm 32. If you were into back then you just never forget how those guys inspired you. I just like to "shred." or whatever that means to me. I like to watch chris haslam skate. I like the feel good vibe. Remember when GD almost landed a kickflip off an incline. Holy sh*t, anything is possible. _________________ www.unicornofthesea.com |

| I wasnt trying to say that they were washed up. I was just trying to start up a conversation about how there are no spots available on teams for the new up and comers. |

Its kinda dumb how pretty much everyone has the same tricks on a wakeskate. People need to get more creative. _________________ vesselwake.com |
