please realize I am not trying to stir up old threads but found this one thru a Google search, even though I build winches out west, I am a fan of Ridiculous Winch and they offer a good winch at a decent price, I can tell you their purchase price covers parts, labor, and some revenue, like any business the more revenue made allows for more production which allows for a reduced final product cost (quantities of scale), and to sell winches they need to advertise, which represents an expense, well if they were like me and only charged winch buyers for parts and labor, advertising budgets would need to come out of pocket, hence the reason there is little Phoenix Winch advertising for now, a new winch with new components for $500?- what planet are you from? as a general example, bare bones, generic brand winch components will quickly add up to $600-$700, condsider the time and effort that goes into cutting and welding the frame, fabricating the spool, do you feel we shouldn't be compensated for that time and know how?

all components for our winch (16 HP Honda with dry clutch, 200m dyneema rope, shimano discbrake, WIG welded aluminium frame, full aluminium spool, roller bearings, cable window, tires and screws etc. ) is about 1200 euros. you can go cheaper on every components but a winch for 500 dollars is not realistic.

supermanotorious, peterpan, hate to bust your bubble but i built a winch for under 500

took a while to find the parts at the right price but its realistic

you have to be ok with using sub par parts

no it will not look as cool as your guys

but its possible

engine-300 electric start honda 13hp

rope- free99

frame-free99 scrap

spool- old wheel hub(free99)+2 cutoff wheels forgot what they cost

fairlead- off a broken 4wheeler at scrap yard free99

wakemitch, my time is worth nothing man , in context to wake

i literally gave this winch to a friend and its sitting in his garage

i have a ski at home in TN
that i dont even use

so idk im past the point where pulls matter

they are just little soul treats i get to enjoy a few times a year now
(hoping that changes this summer)

i didnt appreciate wakeskating entirely untill i couldn't

Crying or Very sad

Yes POPTART it is possible, but for a company to produce winches, it is not realistic.

1k to buy a new winch is a steal IMO.

price.dan they could
but they wouldn't last long

CAN YOU JUST CRUNCH THE NUMBERS AGAIN?

[hits enter] Crunch

if i payed over 900 for a winch i would want
it would need to be silent and not use gas

and this is on the way

just wait

Cool Cool

the people that own RW do it as a side thing because they are into wakeboarding and wakeskating. there real money make is they make aftermarket parts for rhinos and off-road vehicles and stuff. They have put a lot of money into promoting their winches and supporting wakeskate contest which is cool to me. and they recently made a winch that is controlled by a remote control so the winch driver is standing next to the rider so there is no confusion about if there ready or not at contest.
