This is why,i think, at a certain age you should have to retake your damn drivers license test... Im thinkin around 65 and on... way to many older people are causing WAY to many accidents... I live in Boca Raton, Fl and i see some times several a day...
I can hardly wait until you guys are 50 or 65. I agree that at a certain point elderly drivers can do more harm than good with their driving. But I'm completely amused--my parents are 66 and they're some of the most cautious drivers I know, not to mention neither of them have ever gotten into a car accident. 65 isn't as old as you think (let alone 50). Bottom line, people need to pay attention and drive according to the conditions. It could easily have been a young person rear ending that dude because they were texting, talking on a cell phone, screwing with the radio, or generally being distracted. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com*
Driving needs to become a privilege and not a right. It's too bad that our society of entitlement begs to differ.
And I'll kinda agree with both sides on this one- 50 really isn't that old at all, but for some this seems to be where motor/mental skills begin to deteriorate. It wouldn't be a bad place to start re-testing/re-evaluating drivers for 'old age,' but I'd really like to see it happen more frequently for everyone. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground www.integrity-wake.com
you would be thinking totally the opposite if you had a kid that got rear ended by an elderly person while on a bike. i am totally all for an age limit before a test retake, if you are elderly and you pass the test, good for you that is a half a day of your life wasted just so we know that someone else will be safe. and if you dont pass then sucks to be you but you shouldnt be able to drive anymore. its simple.
I think driver's tests should be more difficult to start with. My entire driving test took place in a parking lot where the most difficult thing I had to do was park the car and then back out of the spot (which, well, you do when you start and end the test, haha, I guess they make you do it again during the test for good measure).
I agree with scott a entirely. Driving is treated as a right and not a privelege.
coricluster, I'd also be upset if it were a young (or "younger") person who hit a cyclist (or my non-existent kid). I'm saying every age range has people who chickity china the chinese chicken up in a car, be it from not paying attention to driving while intoxicated. My dad used to be a body man and now he works in the office of a body shop. It's not just old people who drive carelessly. trust me. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com*
People ignore it and are swerving around the accident like little ants. I'm so glad we haven't hit this point of overpopulation yet. Humans are in for it... damn.

should be noted that most High Mechanism accidents happen with younger drivers. While I agree that old people need to be regulated, at 50 most people are starting to drive slower. Fender Benders are not the problem....... Young people talking, texting and showing off there "tokyo drift" skills are. Everyone on here has driven like an A$$hole at one time or another... Most people are over confident in there driving skills.............. _________________

supermanotorious, honest to god, i felt safer living/driving in miami on my streetbike than I did in a car. Actually for the most part I still feel that way. _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray
