Did anyone else notice that MTV plugged john kerry so much, and dissed on a bush during the whole campaign....i woulda thought theyd present both sides equally and let the viewers make their own decisions....did anyone else notice or can someone explain this. _________________ JMU |

Yes, I noticed it and thought it was very annoying. But there were plenty of other media outlets that were blatantly partisan, so MTV was not the only one, nor was it only democrats. I'm just glad that it is over and that the election has ended without going to the courts. |

I work for MTV...Spike TV in particular, but yeah...It is ridiculous how Liberal they are. People have (oops...Had) John Kerry posters all over our offices.
The only way to explain it is that MTV is a part of the Media, and the media is over all very liberal. MTV actually had a campaign going where you could send your friends their draft cards, and it said, if you don't vote you will most likely get drafted. I bitched to HR, and they held a thing on Politics in the workplace...I didn't go b/c I knew it would be worthless.
It was choose or lose...and they lost...
On another note does anyone else hope that P. Diddy didn't vote, so that he would in fact die? _________________ "I tried sniffing coke once, but the icecubes got stuck in my nose" |

Im preaty sure one of the reasons that bush was not on mtv was that challengers have more to gain to be interviewed or be involved in a debate. Also kerry and the democrats saw that if they could get the votes from the age group that watches mtv then he would have a greater chance of winning. It will be interesting to see the statsics on how many people in the age group 18-25 actually voted. oh and on of the main reasons i voted was so p diddy didnt kill me. |

MNwakeskater, Actually Choose or Loose, and Vote or Die are currently being considered failures, b/c the same percentage of the 18-25 crowd from last election voted in this one. _________________ "I tried sniffing coke once, but the icecubes got stuck in my nose" |

They were saying that this was going to be the year that young people came out and caused an upset in the result. But, alas, the youngsters proved themselves to be just as slack this year as previous years. I heard some statistics but I can't remember the numbers, I think it was in the 10% range. I agree, MTV has a "Rock the Vote" Campaign which should be "Rock our Candidate". They above a lot of other media outlets tell you what to vote for and don't support deciding for yourself. And that's not just for politics. _________________ www.armoredsquirrel.com |

I heard a number on one of the networks this morning that it was the same as the 2000 election. Something like 17%. But don't quote me on that because I may be wrong.

Yes! HAHA! But it was rather genius of him to use the very popular election to put himself in the spotlight. |

yes from what I heard only like 10% of under 25's voted.
And yes, it was smart for P.Diddy to give the majority of America a reason to kill him. _________________ "I tried sniffing coke once, but the icecubes got stuck in my nose" |

Quote: | From MSNBC
No youth surge
An estimated 9 percent of voters Tuesday were 18 to 24, about the same proportion of the electorate as in 2000, exit polls indicated. The youth vote accounted for 17 percent of turnout when broadened to the 18-to-29 age group, also about the same share as in the last presidential race.
Still, the actual number of young voters was up, given that overall voter turnout was higher.
When it comes to voting, the United States still has some distance to go to match the participation of voters in other democracies. But by U.S. standards, Tuesday shaped up as an impressive show. |

i guess it must be hip to be liberal...
most kids my age do their political part by dissertating that, " like, bush is like, a bad president, because like, he just.. like, is."
mtv & reality television gen... man, it's a dismal future. _________________ you must lose your mind to come to your senses. |

Sadly, the audience that MTV was trying to market to will vote for a candidate just because someone told them to. They dont form their own oppinions and frankly they dont care. |
