Im looking into getting a shred sled of my own so i can ride on my own schedule. At the moment i have my eye on a 2000 sea doo gtx rfi with 70 hours on it, and it is a 2 stroke, 800 ccs as well. The top end has been rebuilt and it is very clean. I just want to hear some opinions from you guys with sea doos, and on older skis. Also my price range is decently low so newer skis are kinda out of the question.

thanks!

I bought an 03 seadoo gti le rfi? with 50hours on it this season, already having problems with it. I also have a 03 kawasaki 4 stroke put 60 hours on this summer, no problems, besides sucking line into the impeller, but thats driver error Crazy Eyes

Evan71, get a johnboat--coming from a ski owner, i wish all the time i would have bought one insted of a ski

you can stay out past sunset, the wake is better, you can have more room for ppl and boards, you can put towers on them

the problem with older skis is the oil pumps going bad, so youd want to by pass that and mix your own gas to keep her running properly , and you need to know who did the work so you know what to keep an eye on , or if it was even done right

id say john boat > old ski for the same money

other than that its really about the individual ski and the owner vs the make and model

ride them before you buy them, my lil bro threw down on a kawi 700 that died in less than 4 months on him , and my other friend has been chucking money in his older seadoo for years

If your trying to learn tricks, nothing is faster to pick up and start then a jetski, I'm lucky and have a friend with a lift, If I had to trailer and launch my ski everytime i wanted to ride, I would def go with something I can just leave in the water

Older twostroke skis==high maintenance. Lose the oil resevoir and mix the gas yourself. The oil lines have a tendency to come off and burn a cylinder.

Went and shreded this weekend well I couldn't cause im still healing from knee surgery but we mobbed a TS650 had 2 people on the ski that were 165~,and 110~ and then the skater who was 170~ and it pulled him up 4-5 seconds pretty suprised! Good little wake to pop off of and had enough speed to ride anywhere from 18-23 but didnt have a speedometer so was hard to gauge Smile but for the $500 my friend got it for not a bad skate machine to go learn tricks on!! Still hooked on the jon boat idea myself so when summer rolls around and i can skate im leanin on the jon boat Smile

If it has 70 hours and the engine has already been rebuilt it's a sign.

I have a 2002 Yamaha GP800R (2 stroke) with 340 hours on it and I've had no problems with the engine at all.

I personally don't like seadoos and I would say don't buy it.

Even the new seadoos have plastic wear rings around the impeller which tend to wear out very quickly, once this happens the jet unit cavitates, the ski loses all its power and will struggle to pull you out of the water.

Evan71, Cool thats my dream boat

but i would probly have gone lemonscraft 1st over a ski (as a new owner)

the only thing thats bad about getting a boat like this is you have to know how to care for them and fix things before they break Rolling Eyes
its more of a second or third boat than a first boat ya know?

Has anyone seen something like this? It looks cool if all your going to use your ski strictly for riding, but I still like to cruise mine around from time to time and dont want to get KO'd on that cage
