I'm riding a cheap-o flat deck right now, a cwb base Confused will a concave deck be noticeably easier to pop off of the water?

also, i'm getting pretty comfortable riding, I can ollie about 6-8 inches consistently and i've also done some inside out ollies and landed those. I'm working on shuvs, but the first one I tried I did the major splits because I didn't commit, and got a little discouraged. I'm definitely gonna work on riding switch next time I get out there. I'm having a blast with all this though! there's nothing quite like it!

the first time i rode i used a flat deck and i could ollie fine and everything but shuv's were impossible to land. the second time i rode i used a deck with nice concave and landed the first shuv i tried...it feels way better to just ride and makes tricks a lot easier to land

chedda, a flat deck wont hurt your riding, people used to throw down on those things... the old kampus lunch trays... now depending on the cwb base (dont know shît about it) it might be a little on the lengthy side which could damper the progression but still shred that thing.

you might like concave more... as do a lot of people... but that doesnt mean a flat deck is bad.

Steven M, it's a 41, it's the only one i've ever ridden so i have nothing to judge against, but it does seem a little big. that's good though, i was worried it wouldn't allow me to progress you know. i'm headed to college middle of august and i'm not sure i'll be able to continue to wakeskate, i've got my fingers crossed i'll be able to though, and if i do, then i'll probably look into buying a concave

chedda, yea dude 41 is cool.. i just figured it was like most wakeboard companies and like a 43 or bigger..

and that flat deck wont hold you back.. just shred that thing for everything its worth, if you can ride with other people and try as many different boards as you can to find what you like.

personally, i think flat decks have more pop.......the thickness of the concaved edges makes the decks stiffer and less resilient. the flatty has a sexy flexy. she so fine ..........keep her at hand as your back up Wink or just rock it.

concave is gonna give you more a$$.......more curves to touch......so you can finesse that shuv around.

its a win win Birthday

flat decks are NEVER gunna hurt your riding. John Ruark rode one for a season or two and he was throwing shizzle huge and flicked. I started on a flat deck with fins and learned so much that way, how to pop and ride switch and stuff, i think everyone should start with fins, and flats are just generally cheaper so you can try it out and see if u really like the sport.
