want to plan a vacation to the keys in august with my lady friend and was looking for advice. i know a lot of you guys are from FL so i figured who better to ask than the locals. here is what I want to do while i'm there. I want to go snorkeling, spear fishing, maybe big game fishing and wakeskating.

so if anyone has any local info about boat rentals, cable parks close to the keys, good snorkel or spearfishing spots, good places to stay, eat, sweet bars, good places for music, you get the idea. i'd appreciate any tidbits you can give me. also renting a car when you're under 25 has some fees attached to it, so i'd like to stay somewhere that's kind of close to all these places, but it's not necessary i don't mind paying the fees. also if anyone has done anything real cool down there feel free to share i'm trying to have an awesome time.

My g/f suprised me with a trip to Key West after my graduation mid aug but there has been a outbreak of bengay fever which is transmitted by mosquitos... 28+ ppl have gotten sick already down there so we are gunna do a cruise instead. Id rather not get sick.

My family went down there for spring break and it was sick! We stayed in Islamorada, at the Cheeca lodge, which was great. As far as wakeskating goes, both Seven Sports and the Otherside Boardsports have wake boats available to ride behind, and both places were really rad. And for cable parks, the closest one is Ski Rixen in Deerfield Beach, which is in the outskirts of Miami. A good plan is to fly into Miami and drive to Ski Rixen from there, ride for a few hours, and drive on down to the Keys. Good luck with your vacation! The Keys is sick! Very Happy

Key West is sick and if you stay in near oldtown then you are within walking distance of practically everything.

im heading down there early august as well.
ive stayed in islamorada/key largo before and the diving was good.
anywhere else with good diving for spearfishing lobstering etc in shallow enough water to freedive?
