just saw a show about how over 700 us cities have sewer systems where rain/sewage flow into the same pipe, and they are so antiquated that the flooding that occurs is horribly bacteria ridden. dude said a good sign it's bad is foamy stuff on top.

Dude winching is nasty as it gets. Some people dont surf after it rains because of containments in the water but show a wakeskater a gap in the nastiest water and we jump right in.

i too am worried about moccasins more than gators. do ya'll remember when owc made you wear nose plugs bc a kid or two died from amoeba? it was a couple years ago. just be safe. gaps and what not rule but be safe. it's to see all the fresh water stuff in texas that clint and the guys hit.

That's one reason I love riding in the winter... nothing in the water gonna kill me unless its rebar or something... The smell is a good way to figure the quality of your water.

mojo, Man I freaked one night after a week long winch trip I started getting massive headaches and loooked online for symptoms of amoeba and the first thing it lists is a headached and I lost it....Totally, called up the doctor which I never go to can't stand doctors for the mere fact that they always tell me what I already know and are a waste of time.....

in the end I was just a paranoid schizophrenic

but the good news is technically the only way to get an amoeba is to be playing in 6 inches or less of shallow water that has a muddy/dirty bottom and when you stir up the bottom then happen to put your face in that shallow water is when they can enter.

Has to be shallow and still standing and close to 90 degrees

ZackFL(BRE), Kids are more susceptible to it for some reason and I heard he was playing in the swim/beach area which is shallow.

I could see any of us easily getting a Staph infection from winching with all the cuts we receive, no matter how minor it'll still get in. Just use hydrogen peroxide as soon as you can though and you should be good, I haven't had any problems yet.

You can get a disease from swimming in any water.
