Im surprised there hasn't been a thread of the current oil crisis yet, and if there is, i apologize i missed it. I was watching the news yesterday and apparently the oil has reached our shores here in FL. How are everyone's beaches looking? The pictures on the news looked pretty grim. How is Louisiana looking? Im pretty fearful of the oil ruining the water and i live over on the east coast, i couldb't believe what i saw this morning. This girl put up pictures from the Boca Raton Beach already with oil in the water. I really dont want it to move north more or get inland through rivers and canals, but it may. I read a projection that it will be carried by the currents all the way up past North Carolina! Here are some pics from off the Boca Beach.

La's basicly waiting for a storm or something to push it into our marsh and destroy it for the next 20 years, luckily for us its been pushing into the gulf slipstream and is headed for yall, unfortunately its on the way and we wish you the best of luck dealing with it, i was fishing in the marsh Wednesday and there were seriously 80-100 boats constantly making runs off shore all day long with either chemicals (worst solution ever) or buoys
i live 45min from dauphin island, an hour from gulf shores, etc. there have been a few oil globs on the beaches, but nothing bad yet. the problem is that the thing is still gushing 5000 barrels a day. the dispersant bp was using was one of the worst ones and they will impact the ocean floor especially for a long time. if we get a hurricane, even one that doesnt make it to land it will bring the oil right onto shore ruining everything. 19% of the gulf is closed for fishing. the economic impact of this, along with the environmental impact is going to last for years and years. bp is just throwing money away to look good. if you can get the contract, all you need is about an 18' skiff and boat license and they pay you 1200$ a day for the boat, 200$ to captain it, and buy your lunch and reimburse you for fuel. your job is to drive along boom and inspect it, but not touch it. you just call in the location w/ gps coordinates. people, businesses, wildlife, and basically everything else is going to be dealt a huge blow when everything is said and done. bp=beach polluters. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. BP was renting that rig and paying for the company that owned it to run it for them. But nice rant lol....
"The rig that exploded on April 20 and then sank was run by another company, Transocean, he reminded viewers. That rig, he said, "was run by their people, their processes."
BP is writing checks and helping clean up the mess because they do dont want to see your oceans destroyed or Florida soiled by the oil, although their efforts and everyone else's have not proved to do much thus far. It obviously is creating a terrible economic issue but to blame it on BP?
I dont think anyone would intend to do this:
Mistakes are made, and although BP is not completely responsible they are doing everything in their efforts to control/fix this problem the the ignorant side of America is trying to blame on some one who did not make the mistakes that caused this. If you really want to blame some one blame Transocean, but really playing the blame game at this point is extremely pointless. How about we play the clean up/stop the spill game instead, it seems more productive.
alexx i know that bp leased the rig from a south korean company transocean, and the lease was almost 500,000 a day. haliburton cemented the well, trans operated it, but bp owns the well. and bp is the one paying out the money. get your facts straight son. i can tell you 100% bp is the one paying things out to the folks around here. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. BP has the worst safety record of any large oil companies, its just as much their fault as it is every other company, bp is payin out the ass because they know how much the law suits will be, stop posting crap that isn't true alex
BP was leasing the rigg for more then 500k, more in the neighborhood for a mil, and things malfunctioned. No BP emloyees were on the rigg it was all trans employees. The thing ruptured and exploded then burned and 11 or so people died. You think they wanted that to happen? And i never disagreed that BP isnt paying for what has happened? I just think everyone looks for some1 to blame really fast when in reality it was just a mechanical error, possibly preventable, but there mechanics are not always 100% safe, ever. But whatever, lets keep pointing fingers, whats done is done, BP is doing everything they can to help clean and writing checks to the state of FL. I guess they could have took more precautions to maybe prevent it this is not the first oil spill... and it wont be the last.
kornhouse, they were posted some girl i know from school...on her facebook, why would she photoshop it lol....
-=AlexXx=-, bp owned the oil rig. I am responsible if anything I own causes anybody harm, they should follow the same rules. If they didn't want the responsibilty of running an oil rig then they shouldn't have bought it.
