cjbecker, I wasn't around for the majority of it. Sad Thomas Horell brought style to wakeskating, but it has been much improved since then IMO. I know I'll probably get hated on for it, but I think guys like Nick Taylor and Andy P have much smoother style than the Cassette guys. Not that that is quite related, but I stand by what I said. Riding in general looks better on a concave.

Ever notice how when someone rides a bi-level that works properly the board has a bouncy loading effect even when the rider makes slight foot adjustments? That's because the concept works.

As far as flip tricking a bi-level, I feel as if I would snap ankle upon flick.

Byerlys new vid is a fine example of how buylevuls can help dial in tricks...

The Kid, O I am not disagreeing with you, i think concave boards look better when ridden. But I do also feel that with the right person they look natural, like reed, and thomas.

cjbecker, I honestly think Reed looked better on a concave than on a bi-level. His early LF days with the guitar kid impulse looked really good to me, his pop and style looked great in The Truth. He popped his w2w 360s SO big. That being said, his parts in Sfumato and Volume were great. It's tough to tell I guess. Thomas I have no idea, I have mostly only seen him ride a bi-level. I don't think that the bi-level contributes to either of their styles, I bet they could both shred a concave today and make it look sick. I feel like an ass, judging people's style this way. My main point with bi-levels was not the way it looked, although important, but the way they are marketed and sold. I'm not going to make everyone agree with me on whose style is best, because there is no answer, everyone likes their own riders. IMO concaves look better when shredded.

BTW I <3 you cjbecker, please come to my house this summer? Toe Jam was funnnn lets repeat Very Happy

The Kid, OK I feel that you just one this discussion because of thomas's back to back kickflip over the box in asterisk*, it looked so amazing, and also when he was using the 4track. Simply amazing.

And also, i have some news for you.

While I would agree that the bi-level was kind of mismarketed, especially by companies who really didn't invest a lot of time into the design, I do think a proper bi-level has a skateboard feel. Honestly, I think the cassette bi-level is on point in that department, I love the shape of the concave, and the very first time I rode that board I fell in love with the way the snap felt. I think a lot of companies that followed copied the design without fully knowing why they were doing what they were doing. There are shiznackle bi-levels, but not every bi-level is shiznackle.

Laughing

Also, i think the cassette style thing is debatable. I do think that andy p and ben are pretty on point with their riding...they're my favorite current wakeskaters. however, you can take someone like drew mcguckin; he definitely mobbed his kickflips, but that dude KNOWS what a re-entry maneuver is all about. He doesn't use the wake as a place to "just" do a trick and learn a variation. He used that transition to pop the shizzle and catch whatever he was doing. today I don't think a lot of riders really do that. I think for them it's just another place to do a trick. I'll pretty much leave it at that...I think style in wakeskating has improved GREATLY over the years, but I don't get excited over every rider I see ride a wakeskate.*

Right, danny molina had the laziest style in the book...totally right on. Cool And cole munster sure knew his way around a flat deck. And that's the thing...to have a young kid ride THAT smooth back in 2001 is seriously insane. It's really hard to make wakeskating look that easy and I don't think anyone else does it like him.

*I don't know if my post was edited or I had a brain fart, but one word was missing here. To clarify, I'm talking about wakeskating in the media and not wakeskating/the growth of wakeskating.

i dont see bilevels lasting another 5 years.
you are seeing less riders using them now. and lock in tricks with a bilevel just look gross.

fastgreens, you are such a prick. integrity is a really strong word and means a lot to people. it also happens to be the name of a wakeskate brand that has integrity. im sure its more than a brand tattoo like having a famous stars and straps F on your neck.

basically, shut the fùck up. it doesnt affect you.

this kind of shizzle really bothers me... can i only voice an opinion in this thread? i doubt that lemons gives a damn whether or not i like his tatoo (i did think it was an april fool's joke)... so why do you take it so personal? i think its great to see that his old ass still has so much fan support!

mitch... what did i do to you to deserve the harsh words?

fastgreens, you just continued to talk shít and say hurtful things to him about something that means a lot to him and is permanent. i would have defended anyone in that situation.
but also because i have been wanting to get a tattoo of the word integrity for a while now but have not because i dont want people thinking that i am just an extreme fan boy. the word means a lot to me. if everyone lived with integrity the world would be amazing. but i do happen to love their wakeskates, but that has nothing to do with it.

Steven M, i cracked up when i read your post because i just finished the ears and head of a solid milk chocolate bunny.
