Thats acctually really amazing, and ironic. Im writing a paper right now for Sociology of Aging and Dying and it is all about how we spend a large amount of the federal governments budget on retirement programs, in 2009, Approximately twenty percent of the budget went straight to Social Security, and then approximately nineteen percent went right to Medicare and Medicaid.

With all the rest of the budget spending going to military, interest, and other misc. stuff the only money there was left to play with was 12%. Thats just insane. The elderly population is draining us guys! Prepare for the worst to come in the future. When we get older, we are going to be getting pennies for our SS, after we put in an obscene amount with taxes. For every $5 the federal government spends, $2 are spent on retired elderly people.

In 1970 retirees got three times the money they paid in taxes back, in 1980 they got two and one forth back, but buy the time our generation (20 yo+) is ready to retire, around 2030, we will get nearly nothing back. . In 1950 every one hundred workers paid for six retired individuals, today every one hundred workers pays for thirty one retirees. Eventually ever one will be paying for half of a retired person to live.

Getting old is gunna start to be a scary thing, financially that is.
