So i finally found my ride. A 1975 Mastercraft stars & stripes pimp starter boat. It's so badass, looks like Roger Staubach owned it. Anyway, the wake looks nice, but compared to my old Sea Ray I/O, it looks like i'm gonna need to be riding ALOT closer in.
What line length are yall riding behind old direct drives for the sweet spot?
Oh, and thanks for all yalls input during my whole boat huntin ordeal! _________________ "Whenever you find a man who says he does not believe in a real right and wrong, you will find this same man contradicting that a moment later."-CS Lewis |

Yeah, i'll post some pics when i get the boat home. It's gonna sit at my buddies house for a couple weeks until i make some room at my place.
On my sea ray i rode at 65', but this boat's wake looks sweet at like half that distance
maybe i'm just trippin and it's actually farther back.
Anybody use a 'monkey bar' wake tower? This classic car only has a ski pylon which means when someone's on the end of a rope, the back seat is off limits....which sux. _________________ "Whenever you find a man who says he does not believe in a real right and wrong, you will find this same man contradicting that a moment later."-CS Lewis |

just tie off to the back if it's a secure tow point. it's just going to be trial and error, but probably somewhere between 50-65' _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. I said take me to the sea and let my mother bury me." Buck-0-Nine |

mojo, That's really close to the boat man...
70 to 75ft is normally nice for DD boats... _________________ 10101 |

rockhouse, also it depends on how fast your riding. If you go 18-20 your probably gonna want to ride around 50 to 60 feet. Going faster you're gonna want let the rope out most likely. Like others said just test it out and try various speeds and lengths until it feels comfortable.
For, the pylon you could also buy an extension that would fit right over the one you have, which would allow people to ride in the back while someone's skating.
Pics!! show us the wake if you can too |
